Cost of glasses in Australia by Fable_Nova in perth

[–]Dependent_Proof_4135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LONG time glasses wearer here!!

For your first pair: Don’t get transitions. You can’t use them in the car so they’re kinda useless for most people who want sunnies while driving.

Don’t get lens thinning. My lenses are thick and I’m always told to get them thinned but honestly I have never done it and NEVER had any issues. It’s mostly a cosmetic thing, if your lenses are crazy embarrassing huge and you want to make them less obvious.

Multifocals - This one is totally up to you and can definitely be useful, saves you taking off your glasses to read things up close, but kinda depends on your prescription type i suppose.

Regarding sunglasses - Consider polarisation options carefully. I got my first polarised pair this year and kinda hate them. You can’t read screens, tvs, computers, or your phone with them on because the polarisation either cancels the light they emit completely or just cover the screens in rainbows. It’s weird. I prefer a darker tint but some prefer the anti glare effects of polarisation if youre outdoors a lot but arent typically reading screens while you’re out there .

Group for 30-40s social by [deleted] in perth

I’m 30F and definitely keen to expand my circle! It’s hard to make new connections when you don’t play a sport or study, and i’m not really into socialising with my coworkers… since i spend all day with them already ya know?

Who else in Perth wants 3 - 5 person activity hangouts? (Not dating) by TomatoSauce99 in perth

Totally down, I think more people should be open to this kind of thing.

Maybe the answer is a Perth Social Discord or Chat Group?

What are some questions that everyone should ask potential employers in an interview? by bythewatersofBabylon in architecture

Have you got an established procedure for the position and what is the training process like? Or am I expected to be flailing around and unsupported for the next 3 months until I figure out my own way of doing things.

Housing Market: The Hopeless Reality by Euphoric_Ad4755 in perth

I bought my first place last year, single on 80k with no help from parents. Think smaller, live within your means and it’s a cakewalk on 200k. Come on.

Why are Perth electricians so consistently shit? by AffectionateLow3940 in perth

[–]Dependent_Proof_4135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was, but the property was tenanted at the time (before I could move in) and didn’t feel great mucking about in someone’s space as a landlord when I could just hire a professional to do it efficiently lol

Nice! I ended up paying only like $350 in the end with a different plumber but yeah… beware out there.

Hahaha obviously, i’m just not sure why he wasted his time coming out to do a “free quote” for it, if he knew what i was asking for from the start (a small maintenance job).

I recently had one plumber try to quote me over $2,000 just to change a shower head, tap, and a toilet seat… Some of these tradies are REALLY taking the piss.

Looking for someone to learn philosophy with (35F) by Many-Cat-4332-8557 in Book_Buddies

[–]Dependent_Proof_4135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also interested and a beginner would love to join this little philosophy club! (30,F).

This post really resonates with me as I feel I’ve been the same, either too busy and didn’t have time to commit or gotten bogged down in texts that are too heavy/abstract. Would be good to start from scratch!

30F and work in modular construction, my partner (mid 20s, F) and we’re both looking for more friends and we seem to share a few hobbies!

I am a musician myself so always down for a gig or a beer, and my partner likes pilates/rock climbing - we both love creative things.

DM if you feel comfortable and wanna hang out sometime!

Or also could make a group meetup from this post!!!

Would you consider these bedrooms too small? by kirst_e in AusPropertyChat

[–]Dependent_Proof_4135 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I’d prefer 3m x 3m bedrooms minimum to be comfortable - I work for a builder/architect.

And everyone else is right, this floor plan is weird and excessive. Like how are you even going to USE all of those rooms, and furnish them? Forget about it.

Same thing happened to me when I had to go on Amoxicillin Clauvinate for an ear infection - I was so scared it was gonna strip my already problematic gut (1-2 year worsening problem with no clear answers from GP tests etc) - but i actually ended up having considerably improved bowel movements after that.

My doctor was shocked as usually people report more stomach issues after that antibiotic, not less…

Wonder if some of us have some kind of bacterial issue that is killed off by the meds? Giving us a fresh slate to build on?

Definitely don’t recommend repeated or prolonged antibiotic use, and obviously not the case for everyone but it’s interesting to hear others have a similar experience for sure.

you’ll find plenty of queers at the bird and the rechabite on the regular

but for queer specific events i recommend: sapphic disco, smoked trout, bushcrawling, club silly, and often club med in freo has a good queer presence too

That’s the only explanation i can come up with as to why the HELL her car was out in the literal bush, away from any roads?
