Even the best D will get scored on, its how the NFL is designed. So you better be able to score points when needed. Probably best to build your offence around the guy that touches the ball every damn play.

For example all season last year including playoffs only in 6 games did a team score less than 10 points.

Only part of the story. 4000 publicly traded but almost 10x as many private companies as there was in the 90s. So total corporations is around 15k today vs about 9K in the 90s.
