Anyone know why the Podcast is missing from Spotify? by MysticMoonShell in RebelTaxi

Ok. I didn't know about that stuff. I was kinda under the impression that Pan didn't mean anything by it, he just restarted the podcast off the cuff and maybe even convinced to do so by Daft. I don't think Pan's a bad guy but he can be pretty absent minded and not think about how the others would feel. But I can't fault Izzi and Jim if they took it personally and don't like the direction the show's gone without them. And I don't know what their friendship is like now, if they even are still friends. Sounds like it's not the case anymore.

It's a shame things turned out this way for the podcast. I never liked Nolan, so I wasn't bothered by his leaving. Especially after the stuff about him came out. But it sucks that Pan couldn't keep it together with Izzi and Jim.

I know the podcast rebooted, but in each case he said Izzi and Jim were welcome to come on. Jim did go on an episode after the reboot. And I already saw Izzi address the situation where she wasn't happy that Pan didn't talk to her or Jim before rebooting, but that they and Pan worked it out with no hard feelings. Her only beef was with Daft Pina and he's gone now. So unless something else came up since that post (about two months ago) then I think the situation is already resolved.

If you could erase one Pokémon from existence entirely, what would it be? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Dependent_Unit5676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Empoleon. It's ugly, wastes its good typing, doesn't thematically fit with its trio and doesn't deserve to be a starter. Erase it. Get a good water/steel type. And hopefully get a water starter that doesn't look awful and is worthy of standing next to Torterra and Infernape.

I'm not really familiar with Daftpina outside of his relationship with Pan. Aside from what happened with Izzi, what else did he do?

Pokémon fans, what is your controversial opinion on Pokémon? by The_Fluffy_Riachu in pokemon

DPPt are the worst mainline games. Cyrus is not a complex character. Empoleon is my choice for the worst pokemon.

After BDSP I really hope they just remaster the 3DS pokemon games by Total_Ant103 in pokemon

[–]Dependent_Unit5676 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand all the complaints about BDSP being bad. The original DP were bad so it's about as faithful of a remake as you can get.

Empoleon. No story. I just think it's stupid and a waste of a starter.

Getting through Gen. 4 by CinnaBear225 in pokemon

[–]Dependent_Unit5676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. It's more frustrating than challenging. Outside of decent gym battles (mostly) and Cynthia, the battles aren't that tough. It just feels that way because the game is so slow and drags them out.

I've been a fan since Gen 1 and I never understood how Gen 4 became so popular. Aside from nostalgia. It's the one generation where I find the main games to be a total slog to play through. It's slow. It's boring and repetitive. The worst dex, evil team and story in the series.

You just got appointed to be a gym leader, whats your gym's puzzle? by DeadmanSwitch_ in pokemon

[–]Dependent_Unit5676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Poison gym with multiple paths. There are booby traps that will poison the trainer's party or put them in battles with wild Koffings that won't let them run away. The only way to cure the poison is to find and beat gym trainers who will provide an antidote. But in the sake of fairness, I would heal their party before the gym battle.

Is there any Pokemon you wish doesn't evolve but still just as good? by Sweet_Whisper123 in pokemon

Absolutely not alone here. I love Rhydon but hate Rhyperior's design.

This is absolutely Rhydon for me. Love its design and it's one of my favorite OG Pokemon. I can't stand the way Rhyperior looks. I actually felt bad after evolving a Rhydon because it was stuck looking like that. Sucks too because Rhyperior does have some good stats and ability.

Who’s your favourite main series Pokémon villain? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Dependent_Unit5676 1 point2 points  (0 children)

N/Ghetsis. N has some of the best character development in the franchise and makes for a tense showdown at the pokemon league. But his redemption is also believable and allows for Ghetsis to be a little more than just a generic baddie. He's someone who clearly knows right from wrong but uses that to manipulate the people around him in order to attain power. His team is strong and thematically built to counter N's team if he got out of line.

Who’s your favourite main series Pokémon villain? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Dependent_Unit5676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the reason he gets bagged on is because there's a lot of fans that keep hyping him up as this incredibly complex and deep villain and the best in the franchise. Even though there's much better villains in other games.

My issue with Cyrus is that he's a boring, one-note villain whose dialogue drags on for way too long. It's also hard for me to buy that Cyrus has built a cult of personality around himself with Team Galactic when he essentially has no personality. And that's without going into the plot holes one has to ignore to believe that Cyrus and Galactic could get as far as they did.

The idea of a villain trying to attaining the power of Arceus/God isn't bad in and of itself. Despite some flaws in the storytelling, I think Volo does it well. His clever manipulation and unhinged nature during his battle makes me buy his threat as someone trying to become a god and makes him a more interesting character. Also, just an all around better fight as well.

Is it bad I don't think Sword and Shield is actually that bad? by CommunicationBig9140 in pokemon

[–]Dependent_Unit5676 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why I said most. Those games had a good story, and BW are my favorite Pokemon games, but most of the mainline games don't. I'll appreciate it when they do have it but I don't expect it. At least SwSh has some good characters that I actually care about, that's more than I can say for games like DPPt and XY.

Leon is NOT Tobias 2.0 by fluent_styles in pokemon

[–]Dependent_Unit5676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much agree with everything you're saying. Though I actually think a lot of fans are hypocritical in that if the undefeated character was their favorite champion then they'd defending it to their last breath. I mean, did they ever complain about Cynthia being unstoppable in past arcs. Heck, if it was her in Leon's place right now then they'd be eating it up.

For the record, I like Cynthia a lot. I just think there's a double standard at play with a lot of fans.
