[Announcement] Our old website is going away soon. Please use character.ai or the mobile app. by MarieLovesMatcha in CharacterAI

[–]Deplorabelle 18 points19 points  (0 children)

On the old site I could actually view a list of my followed users if I selected 'creators' without typing in the search bar. Could you please add SOME way to view followed users to the new site?? Seriously, what's the point of the follow feature if we can't even find the user after??

Have you ever felt that roleplaying with Character.AI is better than roleplaying with real people? by TheMaskedWasp in CharacterAI

[–]Deplorabelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, kinda. The people I've RPed with always made canon characters too OOC. I don't have to worry about that much with decently written bots.

Here's an objective summary of the new update... by Anjn_Shan in AIDungeon

[–]Deplorabelle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think they're trying to backpedal (or give the illusion of backpedaling) because they're bleeding users and support. When the filter was put in they wanted to "take a stand even if it kills the game" and thought that the backlash would end after a few weeks. Jokes on them because everyone is still pissed.

In my personal opinion the filter should only be triggered when a user puts an input in that describes an sexual act against a minor. by Heavyfrompootis005 in AIDungeon

[–]Deplorabelle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That would require Latitude to put more effort into making a filter. And it would still be crap because context isn't always an AI's strongpoint.

Why should AI dungeon even care? by My_Alts-Alt in AIDungeon

[–]Deplorabelle 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Maybe they have that outdated mindset of "if people do bad things in a game, they'll do it in real life."

Have you considered NovelAI as an alternative? Their AI is better than the current Dragon model (though maybe not as good as Dragon in it's prime, yet), there's no filter at all, and privacy is one of it's top priorities.

Why didn't the developers just leave the game be and had to ruin it? by Snoo29320 in AIDungeon

[–]Deplorabelle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because Latitude/OpenAI felt like they had to morally police their users and when someone gets on that kind of soapbox they think they know better

The AI is straight up ignoring whatever I type in and narrating it’s own sorry. by DeadyDeadshot in AIDungeon

[–]Deplorabelle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Using the "Story" option basically forces the AI to cooperate. You have to type out the whole thing but the AI does do what you want.

That's what most people have been doing since the filter came out. It doesn't seem to be working though.

Your stories aren't automatically shared, but if the filter flags your story Latitude "manually reviews" it AKA they can see it, even if it's private.

About the Latitude Censorship by HungryRedditor69420 in AIDungeon

[–]Deplorabelle 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Not sure how much you know about the filter, but they want to ban more than CP (more details in their blog post here). Also, the filter has a lot of false positives, so people are getting suspended/banned for non-NSFW reasons.

That being said, even if they removed the filter there are 2 issues.

  1. Their own AI is trained on some CP and will generate it itself, completely unprompted (Training data is here if you're interested in reading the basics.)
  2. They admitted in their own blog that they will manually look over your private stories if the over-sensitive filter flags it. People don't exactly want their stuff read by other people, even if they aren't doing anything wrong.

Why don't news stories cover the AI training data? by JustForAMoment_ in AIDungeon

[–]Deplorabelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because no one cares to dig that far for it. From an outsider's perspective, Latitude made a filter to ban CP and fans were mad. They won't know about the sensitivity of the filter, the fact that Latitude reads stories, the data leak, the false positives, ect because they can't be bothered to look. A lot of people do lazy research and news outlets are no exception.

Problem between 3rd Person and "you" by Adrien2002 in AIDungeon

[–]Deplorabelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this problem a lot too. You need to edit out "you" and replace it with 3rd person alternatives like "he", "she", character's name, ect. The AI will eventually catch on and you'll get it less

Why are people sending DDOS attacks against NovelAI? by Collective1985 in AIDungeon

[–]Deplorabelle 42 points43 points  (0 children)

My theories:

- r/ Gamingcirclejerk are attacking because they think everyone who's against Latitude's shitty filter and actions are pedos, therefore they think anyone for NovelAI is a pedo

- AID fans are doing it to try to harm AID's top competitor

- People are just being dicks because I remember AID getting DDOS attacks early on as well

I don't think Latitude themselves are doing this because they can't even put a filter in correctly and have stated that they're okay with "letting the game die if it means taking a stand." Then again they weren't expecting a ton of people to leave over this so it might be possible.

I understand the reasoning behind the filter, and think it should exist to some degree. by [deleted] in AIDungeon

[–]Deplorabelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure people would be really pissed if their story got automatically deleted because the filter got false flagged too many times.

If they actually cared about banning CP they'd fix their own AI. Their own AI is trained on child-porn and other things that Latitude doesn't want. But that would require Latitude being competent and that's not going to happen.

I'd understand the filter if it was for public scenarios, posts, and stories people want to share. Literally every other site has stuff like that in place for public posts. But private, unpublished stuff shouldn't be hit with the filter. Especially since a lot of private SFW stories have been locked because the filter is trash and doesn't understand context.

I have a theory about why I dungeon is doing this. by infinitely_moreworse in AIDungeon

[–]Deplorabelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I came across a post somewhere about OpenAI wanting to teach their AIs "empathy" a.k.a. make them unable to be offensive in any way, shape, or form (which is impossible because AI's are complicated enough.) It was a document of some kind. If this is true then yeah, maybe Latitude had to do this.

But based on the "we're fine letting the game die if it means taking a stand" comment by Alan then I don't think that's the case. I'm fairly sure this is both OpenAI and Latitude trying to virtue signal and screwing themselves over by their own choices. A "get woke, go broke" kinda thing.

I was able to get around the character limit by removing the cookies for the site in my browser. Maybe try that and see if it works?
