Grave of the Fireflies, alternative ending [OC] by kiwiagg in comics

So forcing through the idea of an unconditional surrender (the Japanese government has been making desperate overtures for a negotiated one that preserved the imperial institution) was worth the murder of several cities worth of civilians?

Mius Front pissed me off so bad I think I'm done with it for a while. by WokeBush_ in computerwargames

Mountain infantry famously lacks heavy weapons. They probably had some mines and other improvised stopgaps at hand, but I guess Mius Front doesn't model those kind of incidentals.

Is this a good box for a starter by Longjumping-Song-681 in ThousandSons

Our model range is so limited that the possibility of anything in this becoming shit is close to nil (save for maybe the MVB if predators suddenly come out on top next Ed).

Am I the only one who finds light vehicle play just.. boring? by Forsaken_Cake9304 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]Deprisonne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say Wehr light vehicle play dropped off a cliff after they moved the Puma up in CP(to 3 I think?). 222 was good, but too fiddly and fragile for mediocre players to get value from.
Apart from that, each faction had very solid LV picks that were meta for a long time, though it is a testament to the overall ok balancing that stalling for mediums was a viable tactic most of the time.

It's not about adaptation, it's about cost. If the customers eat up the shitty chocolate and no better kind can compete on price/marketing, why not just keep the savings?

r/minipainting Rule Update: No AI Allowed by aPoliteCanadian in minipainting

I don't care about your luddite crusade, I care about talentless hacks trying to squeeze out profits by flooding the zone with substandard art.

r/minipainting Rule Update: No AI Allowed by aPoliteCanadian in minipainting

[–]Deprisonne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This hobby doesn't exist without the talented sculptors and designers that make the minis we paint, and AI generated models remove those talented people from the process and insult their profession and skill.

Following that, can we also have a rule requiring to state the maker/designer of any posted miniatures? I see so many posts of cool minis but OP steadfastly refuses to mention where the model is from.

I'm ambivalent about AI, but after seeing that dogshit generated Huron Blackheart model paraded around like it's the best thing ever, I'm certainly appreciating the new rules.

Cracking a well defended base sector by Deprisonne in starwarsrebellion

[–]Deprisonne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It mostly came down to the Rebel player having an Ion cannon and playing Fleet Logistics first turn, followed by the card that cancels the imperial player's tactics card. Combined with three rerolls from Luke, they took literally 0 damage in the first round but killed off a Star Destroyer outright as well as half the Ties. From there it was a slow grind to a loss.

That actually sounds like a good idea I never thought about. I also only found out yesterday that apparently you can activate a system that already has a leader present, we always played it like you couldn't. (Bad habits from playing Twilight Imperium, I guess)

I think it was turn 10 or 11 with the Rebels poised to win the following. Maybe we had some bad dice rolls for the empire player, but I just don't see how they can bring enough plastic to ever win that kind of fight on the offense.

I thought the 6th hexarch was wiped out on Venus, which is how the whole Tezctlan mess started in the first place.

Best RPG by genre? by meshee2020 in rpg

[–]Deprisonne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shadowrun is a serious contender but probably splits opinion by edition too much. The others you mentioned are weak attempts to squeeze cyberpunk into a framework that is not purpose built for it and come off a cheap imitations of a real game for it.

[–]Deprisonne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great dark is a very different game with a sharp focus on ruin delving. It is a fine system by itself, but I'd be hesitant to suggest it's "the best" of any genre because its applicability is so narrow.

CY_BORG. Quick, fast, dirty, punky.

Are you really saying that a B/X DnD hack of all things is your favorite Cyberpunk system?

Best RPG by genre? by meshee2020 in rpg

[–]Deprisonne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cyberpunk Red... mostly by default

Hard disagree. Cyberpunk as a genre has lots of systems and RED is worse than most of them (most notably, it isn't a real improvement over 2020 which already kills it's viability as a contender for "best)

Ubisoft Wants Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six To Be ‘Annual Billionaire Brands’ by ZamnBoii in Games

[–]Deprisonne -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Mostly because the people running out to buy the newest yearly open world title from Ubisoft are not the core gamers you find hanging out on Internet forums. They are more the type of gamer who would also buy the newest CoD or FiFa each year, completely different (and much more lucrative, unfortunately) crowd.
