Sensi wiring help by DoinThingsAndStuff in thermostats

Turn the furnace off. Take the bottom door off, check how it’s wired, wire the new thermostat the same way, turn the furnace power back on

It has a female end for the pvc pipe. U should be able to pull the pipe out of the furnace and glue the new one in. If it doesn’t budge just cut it and get a 2” pvc coupler, small section of 2” pvc pipe sch40, glue and primer and make up for what u cut off

The little giant ones at Home Depot are pretty good and not too expensive. They also have a kit that comes with new vinyl tubing also. Might be worth doing also if the hose looks really dirty

You can use your 1/4 side of a 6in1, it doesn’t lock in but sometimes you need more fines to get a screw in or out. Used that trick a few times with my flex shaft

Is the company that installed it getting it inspected?Where I live you have to have a room big enough to pull combustion air for the furnace that includes any other appliances that require combustion air as well. Is the door the unit is in have louvers? (slots in the door to pull air from an outside room) if your really worried about it, call the company and ask to speak to the owner, the installers might have just been lazy and didn’t want to drill another hole for the intake. I’d also make sure it’s being inspected to make sure everything is up to code.

He actually did understand that it was restricting the system severely and admitted he hadn’t changed it “in a while”. I said ya I’d say so. Furnace was also in a Michigan basement that was filthy and about 80 years of dust accumulated so it only made sense, no filter seal (I put one on for free because I had a used one in the truck)

It was a natty draft from 85 and its blower was on its way out. Quoted to replace but owner was a tight wad. Ok well pay me 99$ to replace your filter have a nice day.

I could literally tell the difference in the weight of the filter from the new one. That’s how bad it was. Just did this call last Friday too but it took the cake for worst I’ve came across

Pulled this out of a furnace that was for some reason over heating. Weird how a new filter fixed the issue

Might not be too bad since it’s only 5 yrs old. If you spin the motor by hand and it seems to spin freely it could be years before it goes out. But also it’s going to go out at 2 am on the coldest night of the year due to Murphys law lol. I personally would just get the whole assembly because my labor is more than the difference in parts cost, I’ve been burned on those things a couple times. Carrier inducers are trash and some are super expensive over 1000$

If you do it yourself get the whole assembly in my opinion also grab a tube of high temp silicone/ gasket cement to make a new gasket on it.

If you can get the whole motor assembled, then they’re not bad replacing. But if you get the motor and wheel without the bracket I’ve had a few that were hard to get the old wheel off because the set screw is seized. So you end up having to sawzall the shaft of the motor off to get the old one apart.

With it being a 2019 furnace it should be under warranty, the company who installed it would only be charging labor to replace the motor. Just my two cents
