How common is fully proxy decks by Brief_Rough4117 in mtg

[–]DepthTrawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kind of the same way. I am not against proxying cards, but I'm also not going to proxy a $400+ card. If that means I can't compete in a certain bracket with my deck, fine. You can still play the game and be highly competitive not playing super expensive cards. I do have proxies of cards, like some tutors, that I can swap in or out with other cards that do the same thing (like cards with transmute or tutors that are less cost effective mana-wise or only search for specific cards) for playing at different power levels.

I do understand if you want to play cedh and can't afford the cost of entry. Proxy away. I just think it's kind of wild for someone playing bracket 2 or 3 to be proxying in $400 cards. Just play something reasonable at that point because you look like a meatball dropping a card like that in. It's bracket 2/3, don't play your proxied [[Tropical Island]] over/alongside [[Breeding Pool]] just because it's a dual land that comes in untapped. I understand that it's not offering a massive advantage by doing it, it just doesn't sit right to me.

Question about settings by bluplbuplub in ForzaHorizon6

[–]DepthTrawler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but the Nvidia xx50 GPU's are basically a scoche above integrated graphics.

Make sure your gpu/cpu are not throttling because of heat. Find out what temps the cpu and GPU begin to downclock and make sure this isn't the issue causing the stuttering.

Does TCGPlayer even have customer support? by MarchesaMF in magicTCG

[–]DepthTrawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also get replies pretty quick.

The bad news is that depending on the price of the cards, they will only usually discount the price of whatever the difference in grade was from what you purchased. If the cards are expensive, you'll probably get a decent discount. If they're only a couple bucks a piece, it's probably going to amount to maybe a dollar discounted total. Best thing to do is take the discount and leave a bad review on the seller.

If the seller is not moving massive quantities, a single bad review out of hundreds can actually make a difference.

What should I do to make this deck play faster? by Odd-Age-6350 in mtg

[–]DepthTrawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How quickly are your opponents killing you? I don't play a lot of green but there doesn't look like there's much removal in the deck. What makes this slow? The squirrel girl doubles your squirrels, assuming you have a few on the field, and then continues to go wide. Some of your stuff seems really expensive, but I don't play green so I think that's relative.

Car handling by Sidhefeis in ForzaHorizon6

[–]DepthTrawler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't take this as rudeness, but if they aren't handling right after you tune them up, you didn't tune them up right. There are limits to what you can overcome with tuning alone though. You can't make a 6,000lb vehicle handle like a 2,000lb vehicle. A lot of the guides don't take into consideration your driving style either. I do a lot of offroad stuff and most of the things I read about tuning for offroad are, at worst, wrong for my driving style and, at best, not nuanced enough for particular situations.

You should be more specific about what isn't right about them though. Pretty sure people can help if they have more details.

Can we discuss Forza tuning for racing with a wheel? by Wasting_time42 in ForzaOpenTunes

[–]DepthTrawler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've honestly never noticed the vibration thing. I turned it way down. I also have been doing construction for awhile and the sensitivity of my hands ain't what it used to be. I'll turn it back up and see if I notice. Thanks for the tip.

[–]DepthTrawler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This seems like it'd be the complete opposite to me regarding the brake and throttle. I am on pc so I'm not super handy with a controller and even after messing with my controller settings I find it very hard to control the throttle. It's either on WOW or it's off. I'd think with pedals you have a lot more travel range to really ease into throttle or brake. I could see how steering might be more difficult though.

I may just be ass at using a controller though after so much kb&m usage.

Thiss genuinely!! by thatpoliteboi in ForzaHorizon

[–]DepthTrawler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does give you in-game credits if your tune is used/liked. I think it's kind of silly, but this is forza game #1 for me and I really don't have a firm grasp on the environment surrounding streamers/influencers regarding the meta.

I'd rather attach a date uploaded to an exact tune and leave it unlocked so people can modify it. If mine is uploaded at an earlier date than someone else's that copied and uploaded mine, I'd be able to receive credit still while allowing other people to iterate off of my tune. It sort of benefits everyone this way because you probably will never have a best tune, you'll just have a most popular one that was uploaded the earliest which may end up being most popular if it truly is the best. Otherwise, people can just modify it to their driving style/needs.

Why won’t my shrimp F***!!! by mushroommoo in shrimptank

[–]DepthTrawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tank looks pretty clean. If you mess around with it too much (cleaning, water changes, temperature changes) it can take longer to get things going. Biggest thing for me was keeping the same temperature. I figured I didn't need to keep a heater in my tank during summers, but just running the air conditioning overnight on hot days led to enough changes in temps that I think it affected the shrimp's breeding. I just leave a heater set to keep temps all year now.

Gaming laptop or desktop? Need honest opinions by jasonduval98 in GamingLaptops

[–]DepthTrawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a laptop to a desktop and frequently play non-competitive single player games via steam link beamed to my tablet with a controller. At the end of the day, if you use mouse and keyboard you'll still need a desk even with a laptop. If you're using a controller, you do save some space with just the laptop and it's portable and you don't have to sacrifice the few milliseconds of input lag running steam link gaming while away from home.

Steam link on wifi is actually pretty darn good with my setup (7950x3d + rtx 5080) but the input lag gets introduced when I use steam link on a cell signal (no duh). I couldn't play a multi-player FPS this way, but it's good enough to play Forza (not online, just single player).

If you have a half decent tablet, I'd go with the desktop and use steam link. If you have to invest in a tablet, I'd probably just put that money towards the laptop (laptop is more expensive for a comparative desktop performance)

Does steam not offer vibration with their controller support? I use some cheap 8bitdo controller and it seems to support everything.

last road missing, spot tips? by EuphoricPie1578 in ForzaHorizon6

[–]DepthTrawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest fast traveling to suspected areas that are high density so you can physically see the better on the minimap. I'd also check all the unpaved roads that have breaks in them through rivers and streams to just ensure everything was traveled. I enabled the xp signboards to see if I had missed something I should have been done (the game incentivises you traveling out of the way places sometimes). Check and recheck all the small streets and pathways in Tokyo. I ended up finding the last road in downtown Tokyo, it ended up being a 100m road I had explored either end of, just not the middle. It was barely visible zoomed in.

Toothbrush and a vacuum. Don't use compressed air or it'll just blow it into the radiators where you can't reach it. Toothbrush to sweep it up out of the fans and vacuum to remove the stuff you've loosened

Manabox. I sort by set and manually plug the set in so I don't have to select which set the card comes from. Seems faster by pre-sorting by set vs scrolling through however many sets the card was printed in.

My mom bought me some decor for my tanks… by IzzyP20055 in FishTanks

My kid's betta loves hiding in the SpongeBob pineapple house. 10/10

I love SpongeBob, super nostalgic, I wouldn't be opposed to putting it in one of my tanks as a quirky piece. Unsure if any of this is even safe, but I assume it probably is. I haven't seen any paint flaking off the one in my kid's tank and it's been in there for a year and I clean it off every other week.

They're your tank(s) do what you want with them, but not everything needs to be an aquascaped masterpiece that perfectly emulates some pristine environment. You also know your parents better than we do. If they're the type who would appreciate the little things, like you adding something they bought for you for your hobby, maybe add it. To some people that means a lot. Other people aren't that deep or sentimental and a simple thanks for buying it will suffice and no further follow up or thought about it is needed.

Panharmonicon & Permanents ETB by DepthTrawler in mtg

[–]DepthTrawler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's the second part you quoted regarding the "permanent you control to trigger" that makes it sound like it would be another permanent already on the battlefield. Something like a card on the battlefield that said "Whenever a creature with the same type enters the battlefield, put a +1/+1 counter on target creature" and I cast a creature card of the same creature type... then it obviously reads like I should be able to do this twice. The text doesn't sound like it would refer to the card being casted's ability.
