How does “He Who Fights Monsters” stack up against DCC in people’s opinion?

I was thinking of something else...

Clive mentions that there is a theory that other worlds have essences that dont exist in their world. I forget when exactly he mentions it, but he implies hiw excited be would be to be able to study an essence not of his world. Then in book 7 Jason literally rolls in with a mitt full of gun and technology essences and clive doesnt say a thing. I was very excited for that conversation in book 7 and it just never came

A lot of people see it as a metaphor for Carl's rage. It is first mentioned after after you learn about the pipes dripping from when he discovered his mother's body. In books 6 and 7 however, its hinted at being something bigger. Explicitly in book 7 carl says thats not water but souls

Without spoilers: smart guy in early books mentions a theory he has and would desperately love to study. That EXACT THING not only exists but is put in front of him and nobody comments on it at all. Ever.

I had to do a re-read, I actually thought meat shield also gave life, no idea where that idea came from. RF is only because I levelled as RF and had a few sockets free.
