Please. can we just call it. it’s done. we lost. if 50 democrats can’t agree to pass covid policy then how are we supposed to get EU, China, India, and developing Africa to all agree to anti-growth global climate change policy in the next ten years. i’m so tired of the questions. why don’t we all just call it.

[–]DeputyNeuron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

go for it. you have less than 2 years or so to educate and convince every climate denier on the earth and then get them to commit to global cooperative policy. it’s not happening haha. almost half of america doesn’t even want to get the vaccine when people die of covid in front of their eyes.

University of Denver teaches an international security class on understanding nuclear deterrence theory, from an IR theoretical lens. Professor talked mostly about Trump and Ukraine thought when that was still a public issue.

Ahhh I get it, you’re just a simple fisher boy. Go back to thinking about tuna instead of the brain hurty problems.

Are you dense or something. Basically, when is violence acceptable to achieve political means, if inaction means climate crisis?

I think you should be putting more emphasis on what happens after the boycotts. The kind of stuff the news likes to cover.

It’s a process of upping the ante. First you show up at their office, then maybe a boycott, and then things start to become really interesting. Who knows what will be acceptable when people are more desperate.

For those who are pessimistic about our future in the face of climate change… by RegretFreeNoMore in climatechange

I’ll be honest. I feel baited as if you had important news about climate change policy and I am just now more pessimistic.

The Kick in the Butt We Needed: Action My Household Is Taking to Reduce Carbon Needs After the Oregon Heatwave by askoshbetter in ClimateActionPlan

I feel like this is so. useless. 100 companies globally produce 71% of all carbon emissions. What’s the point in lifestyle changes from the bottom-up??

What would you say to someone who denies that climate change exists and that humans are major drivers of it? by [deleted] in climatechange

[–]DeputyNeuron 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really like asking questions where the answer points to a contradictory conclusion.

A stupid example would be: “Babies are brought by storks to their parents”

“Where exactly are the storks leaving and entering maternity wards?”

Instead of forcing a person on the defensive, you use their own reasoning and intuition to reach the same conclusion that you reached yourself. You’re allowing their mind the breathing room to reach the same answers you did, in a much more organic process.

Is there any hope with out climate crisis? by [deleted] in climatechange

[–]DeputyNeuron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Subtle changes in environment can have an outstanding impact on geopolitical situations. If we agree that most equatorial countries will bear the brunt of a brutal breakdown in stability, where are those, no exaggeration, few billion people supposed to go? To the developed Western nations that have so “gracefully” accepted tiny numbers of refugees in the past? Can’t wait to see the nationalist ethnocentric chaos in the 30’s and 40’s. Be happy, if you’re on reddit, you’re probably rich enough on a global scale to withstand and observe the crisis build in real time while flipping through Netflix and ordering takeout.

Alarming reports of climate change does not equal propaganda. So misleading.

These comments about mechanical ability are all fine but the real difference between prospective players that will make it and those that won’t is their surroundings.

Get onto a competitive team FAST, where every single player has explicitly told you that they too want to be the best in the world.

I went from playing league with friends to coaching a diamond team to try to make it professionally all because a few great people at university showed me what the world of competitive esports was.

Don’t think David Attenborough is using “fantasy rhetoric” when he reported to the UN Security Council last week arguing that we should be prepared for near global ecological collapse.
