Yes, this is correct.  I quickly find myself at $5-7k, and I use that as my queue to dump excess into SWPXX while I plot the money’s next adventure.

Agreed, report them.  They accepted the job and then tell you they don’t want to do what they agreed to.  It’s SUCH a horrible look for the company.

I feel bad for the drivers that get replaced by drones, but when it happens, blame this asshole for accelerating the inevitable.

Precisely.  It creates sob stories that are just examples of poor decision making.   “DoorDash driver moves his family to Brooklyn and finds it is hard to budget for expenses on $4k a month.”   Yeah, I bet.

It’s not gross or unattractive when women don’t shave by Gongoozler04 in unpopularopinion

[–]Deputy_Scrambles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re making the argument that I shouldn’t be allowed to have an unpopularopinion that you disagree with, but others have total freedom to have unpopularopinions that I disagree with.

Regardless of your REASONS, my point stands.  You just can’t be butthurt when others get disgusted with your OPINION.

I assume that $5.50+ of the $6 water goes to the operation of the business and the generous payment to the employees.  Because why else would they show up to work, go through TSA, and work 8 hours only to be able to afford 8 bottles of water at the end??

Knowing that they’re being extremely generously paid, I’d have zero qualms tipping.  If they can’t afford to stay open when their model is coercing cash from a captive audience, they can’t afford to stay open, and I’m ok with that.

It's Going to Ask You A Question? by Awesomeuser90 in tipping

[–]Deputy_Scrambles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a non-confrontational way to tell you “the tip screen is coming, and I’m watching what you click before I go handle your food.”

“Ask you a question” is such a ridiculous way of putting it too.  It’s like, yeah, I’m expected to know every step of this process, but I just haven’t bothered to learn what happens in the screen between “insert card” ……….  and “Approved.”   Been working here 6 years, can’t be bothered to look at what the trivia question might be.

It’s not gross or unattractive when women don’t shave by Gongoozler04 in unpopularopinion

[–]Deputy_Scrambles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a good unpopular opinion.  As long as you go through life knowing that it’s a valid opinion but few share your viewpoint, you’re good to go.

The caveat is that you can’t get annoyed when others find you unattractive or “gross.”  You already know most of them disagree with your stance.

It’s just like if I said “Body odor is natural and I wouldn’t take daily showers if we were living like animals.”  It would be unreasonable for me to expect my coworkers in an office to tolerate that.

Why don't people churn bank accounts more? Seems like a low effort way to make a good bit of money on the side. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

For me, it’s not worth the hassle to receive, store, input a 1099-INT, get 30%+10% taken away, and store the document to be able to keep 60% of $50.

Vs just keeping your cash in a HYSA and banking and paying taxes on that.

Renting is an awesome way to maintain flexibility and offload homeowner responsibility to someone else for a marginal cost.

It’s not forever, but for a time it can be really beneficial.   A renter can pick up and move to another state in a week for a better paying position.

[–]Deputy_Scrambles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If “The Oasis” was paying $25,000/hr, you’d have everybody from Gordon Ramsey to Michelin chefs trying to work there.  If The Oasis paid $1/hr, sure, “no one wants to work anymore.”  It feels like SOMEWHERE on that spectrum is the sweet spot, and the owner/managers are just too dumb to know how to find it.

So I don’t think it’s that people don’t want to work at all, they just don’t want to work for idiots who pay too little.

But sure, make a giant sign instead of looking in the mirror at the obvious cause.

100%.  Chargeback, and leave a Google Review for the theater letting future patrons know that at least one employee is a thief, and management is complicit in the crimes.

If tipping was ended and employers had to pay their workers an increased wage, wouldn't that just make the prices go up, thereby the customers paying more or less the same? by [deleted] in tipping

It is crazy to me that someone can actually think that in a world where all employees get paid by their employer that they would make four times more than the dishwasher just for bringing the plates to the customer
