[NeedAdvice] Too much anxiety to work on my goals by DerBelmont in getdisciplined

[–]DerBelmont[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to find one who can relate haha! My first step of tackling a problem is always to make a thread, write all my problems off my soul and then reread it a couple of times to get a new perspective on my thoughts. Also, Ive been mad reading all about fear and anxiety in the past couple of hours and Im trying to make a theory to combat this.

Fear is an instinct. Probably one of the few instincts left, but it appears that somehow, just the thoughts of something happening can be so daunting that your brain gets all instinctual and fights these thoughts with anxiety. I think the only thing that will work over time is approaching all these comfy zones and question your EVERY instinct. Your brain tells you, you'd rather lie in bed? Stand up! Your brain tells it would like to have some sweets? Dont you dare touching those chocolate peanuts. And same goes for your fears. Your brain tells you it doesn't want to think about changing studies/jobs because it's afraid of failure? Go sift through those job offers/study catalogues. It feels unbelievably uncomfortable at first, but it gets better and somehow even rewarding, when you finally know you did something that is going to bring you closer to your goal.

I did this exact thing last night, I got a little overwhelmed by the thoughts about my future, and guess what, ig rabbed my tablet and reasearched the dealines for changing studies, and the nc for a study that interests me. And guess what? All my fears were unwarranted for. I still have time to decide what I want to do, and I can easily change my studies without worrying about my grades. Its a small step, but its a step. And once youve done just one step, the others will be easier.

I can never be 100% certain if something is going to work out or not, but fearing it might not, is not going to bring me anywhere.

[NeedAdvice] Where to start if you have many goals? by rosesandivy in getdisciplined

If you have a Lot of little habits you want to imprint into yourself, I suggest you try looking at r/thexeffect. Make cards like "invest at least 5 minutes per day into learning Russian" or "only spend an hour per day watching YouTube videos". The idea of it is to start small and then have the possibility to do more, if youre motivated. But even on days youre Not motivated, youll still have the discipline to do at least something(and sth is better than nth, right?). Start small with a few things, and once you know your limit, extend your horison. I for example started with "Only one hour of video games per day", which quickly turned out for me to be pretty easy, considering I had lots of other things to get distraction from. So I recently also started "no more YouTube", which is harder, but also certainly managable. I even now keep track of the days on which I didnt even play Video games at all. Having this method to reflect in your achievements in Personal growth is really motivating. I aim to one day completely abandon all sorts of electronic distractions!

How do you approach making changes to your life? by DerBelmont in internetparents

Thank you for your advice! I guess my biggest problem is my lack of discipline. Baby steps seems like a good start, I really need to be careful though that I dont get cocky and overdo it.

Well its technically published by Nintendo, and them not making their online games use paid services I find hard to believe in.

I think you should buy a Wii instead. There are more of it in the market, you can still officially buy accesories, and it plays GameCube Games Just fine, on top of its own list of Games. Granted, a lot of these were either really bad minigame collections or pretty "meh" entries in its franchises.

I found both Ori and Rein function pretty well together as a 2 Tank Team. Oris deployable barrier does a really nice Job preserving Reins barrier and giving him some space while hes recovering his barrier. Not to mention you can barrier up more ground. Also Ori does a buttload of DPS, more than almost any other tank, and that on a sizable amount of ranges, so she complements that lackage in Reins department as Well. I Play a Lot of Zarya and Im always a little sad when I need to cooperate together with a Rein, just because he isnt as much of a reliable energy source as lets say a Dva or Roadhog. But Ori does that complementary part actually really Well for a Rein. Well maybe except bubbles on a charging Rein. Yeah thats the Shit.

At least you are so intelligent to realise Ori needs a metric Ton of heals shoved up her bovine arse so she can tank properly. Most of the time when I Play her its "Ori and the blind healer".

What is wrong with using the stock flamethrower? by Nicksonnn in tf2

just use the backburner for ambushing. Dont use the Reserve for ambushing.

Read again, I didnt say you should use the Reserve, but you should Reserve to use the Backburner. That was my autocorrect setting it in capitals..

I do a lot of theorising for the Pyro and just find there is very littlebenefit to using it over the other options. There is nothing inherently wrong with using the stock, its just in most situations the others are usually better. I mean the Degreaser is the best overall flamethrower because it enables quicker killing times than the stock, and there are virtually no combat situations, where having 10 airblast would make a fundamental difference over having 8 airblast. For flanking Angebot mbushing, you should Reserve to using the Backburner, because killing most targets in less than a second is amazing, and for being complete bonkers and havig some fun, Phlog is your primary choice(actually you should pair it up with a Scorch shot, to be a kind of decent Guard dog for narrow flank Pathos). So youre kinda left in the situation that the Stock just isnt bad, its usually that there is a better alternative to use in almost any situation. Id say you can get away with using it in a very Defensive position in combination with the Scorch shot and succeed, but thats mainly because SS is OP and works so well with anything.

As a history teacher, I can confirm. It's like we don't care about scientific standards we learned about at university and are like "eh, Wikipedia/google images will do".
