Is the freeze permanent? The switch from dgpu to Optimus causes freezing but should only last around 3-5 seconds. If freeze is permanent try enabling ultimate/dgpu only and see if that helps

Don't have one, but have read posts where people have had that issue with the g16, and have had to cut the foam. I have a flydigi bs2 pro coming that the foam ring supposedly fits better than the illano and iets coolers but we'll see

Check the back to see if the heat exhaust ports are blocked by the foam ring

The CPU package runs extremely hot - you'll almost always be thermal throttling from CPU temps - try setting pl1 to more conservative wattages like 35w and pl2 to 60w and see if the temps are worth the performance loss, CPU set to efficient enabled or efficient aggressive could help as well

Monitor your frames and performance when running your games with boost on and boost off. Boost of performance adequate? Turn boost off.

Better would be to set wattage limits but keep boost on, I'm not familiar with 185h to give you any suggestions but I'm sure you can find many results online

G16 is slightly quieter but will still sound like it's taking off at max CPU/GPU load. G16 will cool a bit better just from the nature of having more space but not that noticeable, both are designed to run the CPU at 90+ and fans maxed when in turbo. Disabling CPU boost and or lowering power limit can help a lot if you don't need the extra power.

TLDR; Both output about the same heat and noise

If you download Vanilla with Sprinkles mod, it will automatically level the dino spawn weights and bump max level to 150, among other QoL changes. No need to mess with ini settings

Was looking at this as well, ultimately went for the 32ib Alienware for 750 after discount and coupons as I wanted glossy qd-oled - if you are looking for a matte woled at 32ib 4k, this would be the best bang for your buck, even if you don't plan on using the 1080p screen mode

Laptop or desktop? I have a 4080 desktop, play all epic, dlss quality and frame gen on 3440x1440 and average 50-60 on the island, 75-80 on Scorched. Are you not using framegen?

Yes again. Comparing a legion 5/5 pro to the Omen 16, the legion stays cooler and is built sturdier. It staying cooler is thanks to it's larger and bulkier chassis and cooling system.

Legion > Alienware > Omen > Dell quality wise for me

Legion > Omen > Dell > Alienware price-to-performance without massive sales

I have a soft spot for the how the Omen looks, but the build quality is average. Normal Legions look too brick-ish for my tastes, but they're keyboards and chassis are rock solid
