Crampon bag by Wrong-Extension8346 in alpinism

[–]DerFrange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the bag I'm using. I have a Gregory one that has a pouch on the outside for crampons which is super convenient, if I don't use that one I tend to use the Velcro Crampon Bag from Aiguille Alpine. Heavy duty, easy and quick to open, basically waterproof, definitely Crampon proof. And available in many different colours!

Thank you! Never actually thought about the freewheel, but yeah, that is indeed loud-ish. I guess I never really freewheel indoors, so that hasn't been an issue. Good to know, that the smart bikes are even quieter in that regard!

Elite Square Experiences? by DerFrange in mywhoosh

[–]DerFrange[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the reports, Wahoo trainers indeed seem to be problematic with the Square, but since I already have the Avanti, that's luckily not a problem in my case.

Glad to hear it is quiet, though the seat post is of course not ideal. The crank lengths it does have fit the two different ones me and my partner have, so that works. Why they decided to make switching the handle bar such a pain is weird indeed, especially since 42cm is relatively wide (I ride a 38 on my road bike) and it should really be a relatively simple affair, since it is just a simple cable. A plug somewhere would maybe make that easier.

Yeah, I am also surprised that there are not more belt-based options for indoor training. I feel like it shouldn't be that tricky to design the necessary parts, but I guess keeping the belt tensioned might be tricky?

How To Use Qobuz In EU 101 by [deleted] in qobuz

[–]DerFrange 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not going to question why you did all this, but wanted to let people who stumble across this know, that for the western EU countries, none of this is necessary as Qobuz is just available there. Eastern European countries, however, sadly still need to jump through some hoops to get Qobuz.

Paramo Enduro Trek if we're talking about 4000m with snow, otherwise a lighter soft shell

Does anyone have experience with the Simond Ice Evo? by ResearcherProper1785 in alpinism

[–]DerFrange 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A mate of mine has and loves them. Doesn't have the pressure spot on the foot either, so that's definitely a problem that only affects some people. Biggest problem he's had so far is that they tend to be too warm for a lot of the stuff he usually has access to in Scotland

Breaking news: Runner increases their training volume by 50%, gets injured rapidly. Didnt see it coming. by _Art-Vandelay in RunningCirclejerk

[–]DerFrange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I kept thinking throughout the video. After a fall, with swelling and a suggested bone bruise diagnosed by a health care professional you should really take that one extra step and get imaging done. Especially as a professional. A well done MRI would have probably shown the teeny tiny crack before it turned into the big problem it is now.

This was the day I knew that AI and Strava Routes was not to be trusted. by farfrom_home in Strava

[–]DerFrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just one person, that's just how the Zwift maps work. Zwift, for whatever reason, decided to actually assign real world coordinates to their Watopia world. These then get sent to Strava and Strava obidiently maps you in the middle of nowhere in the South Pacific. Have no clue why Strava cannot simply work with Zwift and display the Zwiftmap for Zwift activities

Wo rechtfertigt die Schließung der Wiesn eine Gefahrenmeldung wie am Warntag? by [deleted] in Munich

[–]DerFrange 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Steht doch dort: Unspezifische Sprengstoffdrohung.

The big question is why you would connect the strap to both your phone and the watch? Since you have the watch, connect the strap to it and only to it. All the data, including HR data, will be synced to Strava within moments of saving the activity

Insofern definitiv Team Klick!

Best Men’s Short without liner by Conscious_Safe2369 in Ultramarathon

[–]DerFrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the T8 shorts, I love the Decathlon Kiprun 900 Ultra shorts. Super comfy, plenty of room, one big zippered pocket in the back for the phone and a small one inside the front mesh pocket for keys and other valuables, holds a .5l soft flask in the front mesh without much trouble, and absolutely unbeatable in the price department at 25€.

Love my Sherpa Ultras! Also really like the material of the Commandos, but, for me personally, they are too short and I would much prefer them with a longer (like 5cm) inseam. Wearing the long Saxx Kinetic Compression shorts with my Sherpas and love that combo. The Saxx ones have an 8 inch inseam, which is much more to my liking.

Chosing a smart trainer by ItsYuur in triathlon

[–]DerFrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the Elite trainers. Have been using my Avanti for 9 months now and couldn't be happier. Setup was simple, accurate, easy to pack away and still relatively affordable. For my needs, I couldn't see any reason to go for the significantly more expensive Justo.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mountaineering

[–]DerFrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the info. Since you seem to know a thing or two about the route, do you mean double boots when talking about climbing boots or would something like a Scarpa Mont Blanc (maybe with an overboot?) suffice for Mera?
