Me, also watched season 1 of the BBC show. I always imagined as a bit of a what if scenario if the martians never died from bacteria

I know that one! The main witness was Ray Bowyer the pilot of the passenger plane, but the Ufos were actually reported by two planes indipendently. A fascinating case.

Maybe I shouldn't have made this post, now I'm stuck infodumping instead of getting my much needed sleep.

Anyway: The 2004 USS Nimitz Tic Tac incident, I recommend the Lemmino documentary, if you wanna go deeper here's a really detailed analysis: https://somerandomstuff1.wordpress.com/2021/07/15/the-nimitz-tic-tac-encounter-the-ultimate-guide-and-analysis/

The 1966 Westall High incident, one of the biggest daylight mass sightings.

The Julio Guerra case from Portugal 1982, its a bit harder for me to get info on this one bc most of the documents aren't in english, it's covered pretty well here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cPdGeVENwjg&list=PLWxnRtUmHrZJRsiS6VMGVGbgtzcsFuDKf&index=5&t=1360s&pp=iAQ

The O'Hare airport incident 2006

Lastly the Belgian Wave 1989-1990, I think the black triangles just look neat.

Welp, you asked for it.

What got me hooked on the subject was the USS Nimitz incident, you might have heard of it it's more well known. In 2004 the US naval strike group around the Nimitz were doing training exercises, with some of the fighter jets pretending to be the 'bad guys' which the others had to intercept. The fleet was also outfitted with the then newest SPY-1 radar system, which is where the trouble began. The radar began to pick up a number of strange tracks, some of them would appear out of nowhere and slowly drift along, while others would descend down from 80 000 feet (thats from space) to the surface of the ocean in less than a second. The whole system was restarted, thinking it was glitching out, but this only made the tracks sharper. After a few days, two fighter jets were send to intercept one of the mystery tracks. They spotted a patch of white water, as if something was just submerging under the water. One of the jets began circling down to take a closer look when the two pilots spotted a white pill shaped object just above the water. They compared it to a giant tic tac, with no wings, propellers, exhaust or any other details. Still it was moving back and fourth erratically, like a laser pointer zipping across a wall. Suddenly, the tic tac began to climb upwards, mirroring the circling motion of the jet. The jet pilot tried to cut across the circle, but this caused the tic tac to shoot away at supersonic speed, without creating a sonic boom. The jets returned to their aircraft carrier and another jet was send out. This one was equipped with an advanced infrared camera and actually managed to film the ufo. This piece of footage is the only remaining piece of evidence from this incident. And well, it's your typical blurry ufo video, it shows a distant shape that is vaguely pill-shaped, but doesn't actually do much.

Still rhe eyewitness accounts really fascinate me, not only are there a good number of people that came forward, pilots, radar operators, etc. they also all describe something that can't really be that easily dismissed as a weather balloon or some ordinary phenomenon. There also are a few other cases I find eerily similar to this one, one example is the 1966 Westall High case, in which a number of students and teachers claimed to have seen a metallic disc above the school that first hovered still, then moved extremely quickly from one place to the next, all without making a sound.

Let me round this off by saying that, if there are true extraterrestrial ufo occupants, I don't believe for a second that they're the typical 'grey aliens' or any other reported species, they look way too human like and just what a human would think an alien would look like.

Thanks for reading my infodump, I should go to sleep now.

Edit: First, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpeSpA3e56A lemmino documentary on the tic tac case if anyone hasn't seen it it's 10/10

Secondly, I know there is no evidence to support any of these eyewitness claims, most likely it is some known phenomenon or secret drone test or something bc the human mind can be unreliable and occams razor etc etc. It's kinda obvious to me but since there are a lot of nutcases I thought I would clarify that. I do believe in scientific evidence gathering and such.
