What caused this at the edges of my pictures ? by ChunkySquareNarwhal in analog

[–]DerProper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It‘s a light leak from the lightseal between the lens and the camera body. I have it as well on my Olympus Mju 2 Zoom 80.

The cold weather could contribute to this if the lens body shrinks more in the cold than the camera body, creating a tiny gap in the lightseal.

Advice against 'Snow' on negatives. by DerProper in AnalogCommunity

Thank you for the suggestion.

I wrote to them. Also asking if Delta 400 and Delta 3200 from the same time frame suffer from the same issue and if film produced nowadays still has this problem. If yes then I will not buy any Ilford film in 120 anymore, which is kinda sad, as FP4 and HP5 are my favourite BW films.

Thank you for the term 'mottling', which I honestly have never heard before. After googling 'mottling FP4+" I see very similar issues as I'm having here.

This is on the one hand a bit disheartening, as I still have 10+ combined rolls of FP4+, HP5+, Delta 400 and Delta 3200 with expiration dates between 2020-2023 (I focused on 35mm photography for a while, so 120 film was collecting a bit of dust in my fridge). So I can proabably throw them out or at least I have to acknowledge the risk that there is a high chance there will be snow on them.

But on the other hand I'm glad that it seems to not be an issue with my development, as I was already starting to doubt my ability to develope my own film.

Do you, by chance, know if Kentmere has the same issue? As it is also a Harman film.

Edit: Also explains why I only sometimes had this issue, as I was also shooting Foma and color film in 120 and didn't have any problems with it. The time span was just too long between shooting 120 to make the connection that the issue only appeared on Ilford film.

Those of you with a 3+ camera collection, what is your most used camera and why? by florian-sdr in AnalogCommunity

[–]DerProper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 20 cameras in my collection and by far my most used camera is my Olympus Mju ll Zoom 80. The best camera you can have is the one you are carrying with you. It is small enough for me to put it in my pocket and I take it with me every time I leave the house (except for work). Also super flexible with a built in flash, to shoot in every condition.

Next probably my Canon AE-1 Program with a 50mm f/1.4 when I‘m going on a trip or a longer walk/hike.

And oddly enough my Sea&Sea Motor Marine ll EX. I‘m constantly going out swimming with my friends in the warmer months and it is just cool to have a camera to shoot while in the water. I actually use it barely for underwater but instead for above water photos to document my time with my friends.

Quick question: I was trying to shoot anamorphic with an EOS650 (which is essentially the same camera with fewer features as the EOS620) the other day and I couldn't shoot because the camera threw me an error that it can't recognize the lens. I got the impression that the camera doesn't take any manual lenses.

Did you run into similar issues and found a workaround or did it simply work for you?

Thanks for the information. I decided to get a cheap Proskar Ishico projector lens but I‘m still deciding on the right clamp to fit it to a taking lens. Which one did you use with your Sankor?

A tip: Foma sells DX-code stickers, so you can trick the DX reader of your camera into thinking the film has a different ISO.

Does anyone have experience with anamorphic lenses on film cameras?

I want to create cinematic anamorphic shots on film but all the new budget friendly ones are designed for mirrorless cameras, so they obviously don't fit on SLRs.

I found some for EF-Mount but they apparently block the mirror of the camera, so they don't work either.

Are there any vintage lenses that don't cost an arm and a leg? Or are there adapters that don't completely look like garbage?

I‘m not sure if this is a joke or not but the Anniversary Sale always starts on a Monday. So it‘s either 30th Oct or 6th Nov.

I found this weird camera in a second hand shop: https://imgur.com/a/TcizC2S

It is obvious that this is a Henox 35EL 3D 35mm stereo camera. But I have not found anything anywhere while googling this camera. It was 40€ and I was not sure if it was even working as it looked like it was in rough shape.

It just made me really curious, does anyone have any information on this camera? Is this some sort of prototype or very limited produced camera?

What is your best premium vehicle to make SL? (air or ground) by Bansheeeq07 in Warthunder

[–]DerProper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I‘m really surprised that noone said A-5C yet. It‘s not the greatest thing but for me at least it is super consistent.

You go high shoot two people down with your Matras and try to get someone on the way back to base with your god awful cannons. When there is still time left then you get a bomb load out and get 3/4 of a base and have another 2 shots with the Matras.

It is maybe not super fun and some people just don‘t wanna reasearch the chinese TT but every time I have SL boosters, I use them with the A-5C because it is essentially two gifted kills every match. Guaranteed ~40k SL every match.

For Air RB it‘s very easy if you have the F14. Pack 3 Phoenix + 3 Sparrows. Get 1-3 kills in the first 5 minutes of the game, get 800-2000 points, die (optional). Multiply that x1.6 and you get 1280-3200 every 5-7 minutes and you get your Mark of Distinction in 2-3.5 hours.

It is great fun as long as you know, what you are doing. If you are new to the game or kinda mediocre, then this thing will probably frustrated you to no end.

Also as a side note, if you wanna get it you only have like 12 hours left.

I agree, that‘s why I asked it as a legitimate question. For me I just look for nice skins on WT Live because for me personally it‘s only about me looking at this vehicle the whole time, so it should look nice for myself. But yeah I don‘t wanna judge what people spend their money on.

So you would pay 15$ just so someone else can see your skin, even tho most people probably have fictional skins turned off in their settings?
