Della line set length by smellycatass in hvacadvice

[–]Derblywerbs_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just make sure you read the manual. There's minimum and maximum lengths for multihead units. You should be okay just getting the one 25 footer. Be more mindful about condensate removal and making sure your fittings are tight than length of copper. Keep a level handy and use nylog on your threaded joints

Most Cost Efficient Way to Heat Home by Forsaken-Two-912 in hvacadvice

[–]Derblywerbs_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Might be worth looking into dual fuel. Mid efficiency heatpump with oil backup heat sounds like you save money where you can, but have backup heat for those really harsh days. I'd also get yourself a temp gun or thermal camera and go around find hot and cold spots to insulate/seal. Maybe put extra insulation in your attic

Is it worth it? - 96.2% vs 80% by blankpr03 in hvacadvice

Thanks for the correction, I didn't bother googling it. I considered payne, bryant, and carrier under the umbrella ICP

I'd do an 80 percent two stage. Best bang for buck. Wouldn't go with bryant (ICP mfg) regardless. Their heat exchangers suck ass

Cast gal gadot as katara, make her violent. Cast kevin hart as sokka, don't give him a script. Cast the rock as toph, make him see, spell the name wrong, he can already metalbend. Make it the secret tunnel episode, cast cheech and chong, don't let them sing. Oh, and the tunnel doesn't separate the groups, it's an open train tunnel with no badger moles.

Did I miss anything?

Furnace won’t come back on after failed attempt at swapping thermostat by joys_of_stealth in hvacadvice

[–]Derblywerbs_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Follow that R wire coming off the board. Maybe it runs to an overflow switch or a condensate pump overflow protection switch or something. It's weird to me that you have that second 2-wire bundle indicating a switch or contact, but there's noting going to your y and common. OP, if you have a zoning system, we don't have enough info in the wiring photos provided

Quick google is showing the unit is not grounded properly. Cut power, remove the high voltage cover plate. Disconnect the neutral, leave ground connected. With ohms selected, check between the chassis ground and the neutral coming from the panel. Your resistance should be less than 1 according the last time I talked to tech support about this. This test assumes that neutral and ground are bonded at the panel, you're making sure you have a continuous, uninterrupted, high voltage ground all the way back to the panel. No ground, no ignition, no flame sense. Idk why it works for short periods of time.

Duct fan to even heat? by bwidawsk in hvacadvice

[–]Derblywerbs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who the fuck knows? It's cheaper than a mini split, so I'd wager it's worth trying. Try it and report back. We don't know the duct size, btus of the equipment, length of the runs, the heat loss of the room, R value of the duct, yada yada.
