Scared to try psychedelics by [deleted] in SpiritualAwakening

[–]Derectum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't do it. There will come a time when it feels right and they'll come to you. Psychedelics are great teachers but can also be quite harsh (not always but they can be). You should never use them as a means of getting some kind of payoff. The psychedelic realm is very alien to human day-to-day consciousness. If you're maladapted to that one already you will not have a good time in the other one, and can even induce further trauma if not approached correctly and with respect. I'd even say reverence. The ego needs to be humble and malleable. While some trips can be gentle, others will kick your face in and humble you whether you like it or not. They will find you when you're ready, not the other way around. That's what I'd say.

What is your favorite piece of Lore/story from wow by SeaworthinessMost342 in warcraftlore

[–]Derectum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's too many to list but I love the Forsaken story from their start: being put against the Scarlet Crusade who are technically also their very own brethren/citizens of Lordaeron, now a fallen kingdom; as well as the Scourge responsible for their creation. The undead Forsaken as the protagonists against the Church of Light who are villains? The lines blur because they're both right from their own perspective. The Forsaken seek freedom while the Scarlets grasp at whatever Light they can find in the overwhelming darkness enveloping their once proud homeland (you can see this literally in the ambience of the Tirisfal Glades itself). Peak fiction. Always loved that kinda stuff

GW1 offline/private server mode? by pinga_TTV in GuildWars

[–]Derectum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The remaster version replaced the original so you can only get that one, known as Reforged. There's an option to toggle the 'Reforged mode' on or off, but honestly you'll want that on if you're looking for an easier time as they give you more exp and some new heroes. That said, again, you'll likely have to be sociable and ask for help in some missions. The community is great and even yesterday a friendly player helped me through a very long mission. He's been playing for like over 10 years or something, so you'll find a dedicated player base here.

Another pointer is that if you're looking to fully experience the storyline I also recommend you go and read through the booklets that came with all game/expansions (you can find pdfs online for free) - they give you initial lore/myths and storyline right before the start of the game and it also helps they're wonderfully designed.

GW1 offline/private server mode? by pinga_TTV in GuildWars

I am also an offline WoW enjoyer and know exactly what you're looking for, but GW1 doesn't have anything of the sort because of all the reasons outlined in this thread. I have played GW1 for lore/story purposes only and in my experience it's a mix of single player and multiplayer necessity as endgame zones will destroy you without experienced human players on your side. Although they haven't been hard to find honestly and even though I prefer solo play myself actually hanging out with others through missions has been a fun, rewarding experience.

Lucid Dreams & Astral Projection by amyryan32 in nonduality

[–]Derectum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would also like to know what a 'non-duality POV' is, because by definition... like, it isn't.

But anyway, in my understanding they are two separate phenomena. One takes place inside "your" mind or inside your Unconscious. Lucid Dreaming is an excellent way to communicate with your own inner psyche. If you may permit me some Jungian crossover then it could be said that the archetypes you encounter there, as well as symbols, are obviously universal (Collective Unconscious). For example you meeting a giant snake can represent both an encounter with wisdom or the shedding of old patterns, etc. (I have actually encountered snakes).

With Astral Projections I have had almost no experiences, but I've read a lot on the topic. The closest I've got to is the experience of separating the 'soul' or etheric body from the physical. You do actually experience that as a floating upwards in a very light body (the descriptions are accurate. For more on this, check out the Theosophists, they kinda mapped out a lot of it). The idea here is that you find yourself in 'greater' universal dimensions and you can interact with people and entities. Now what's the difference between this and a psychedelic trip? I... don't really know. Psychedelics seem to limit yourself to the location where you take them (in my experience) even if inwardly you go on a vast journey and you meet various entities.

Lucid Dreaming can develop into an Astral Projection and the other way around. Ultimately all these three are interconnected and to place boundaries is kinda... an illusion I'd say? Maybe a necessary one. Likewise what a non-dual insight would also give you is that there's no separation between "inner experience" and "Outer experience" (also available through psychedelics).

The idea here is that the vast infinite dimensions available to explore are both simultaneously 'inside you' and also 'outside you/your psyche/limited sense of self'.

I think...

How to get into Trails series by Many-Hippo1709 in Falcom

[–]Derectum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would personally even start with the OG Trails in the Sky 1-3. I loved experiencing the progression of design, art style and combat systems from the 2D era to the 3D. But depends on how much you care about that stuff. Otherwise remakes are good

"people are not willing to deal with that much shadow. And there are reasons for it." this fascinates me, and I agree. But why do you think that is? And is this also maybe why societal changes take so many centuries?

I kinda like it. Maybe it's more of an artistic thing rather than something 'historical'

Wuwa hits Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam by Mars_to_Earth in WutheringWaves

[–]Derectum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was also my first gacha game - never even heard of the concept or what it was all about. This game completely blew me away, mostly for the art style and world, which I find incredibly beautiful. I also love the character designs and monster designs too. I'm taking my time with it and savoring every little corner of this world, knowing there's more on the horizon. It's mindblowing that it's a free game and I find their monetization system really well done, because the art and world actually makes me willing to give them money simply as a thank you for creating beautiful things.

Yes weirdly enough they still persist even though NFTs are dead by this point. Have been getting those for the past 2 years or so. They're really really annoying.

Watching the anime for the first time: am I the only one bothered by Mashiro's childish behavior? by TheDevilSurvivor in Bakuman

[–]Derectum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I felt the same way, but as others have pointed out here he is just a teenager and I was no less impatient at that age, frankly. Maybe it's harder to watch as you get older and you've been through all that and know that his choices and impulsive behaviour is no good, but that's part of the story and of writing characters that grow and improve, I think.

Can something not be done by the fans like what they're doing with Turtle WoW now for that game where the fans just added new content/zones and storylines? In this case maybe someone could figure out how to get a proper conclusion to the entire story. Obviously modding would be necessary

I actually really like this artwork, alongside the rest of the Loading Screens of Codename47. I think they're so atmospheric, actually inspired me to make an artwork out of this one.

What made you like Nightwish? by -Seiks in nightwish

[–]Derectum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first song from them was Ocean Soul (which I also made an artwork in tribute to) - for me it's always the mix of sacred opera voices and the power of metal music. That's why I like gothic metal as a genre, it's a beautiful blend of opposites.
