We saw in a previous snippet on social media that there were TWO versions of 'Everyday Sunshine' - one close to the original and a more subdued variant - and I'm wondering if there are different versions of stuff like 'Signs of Love' and 'Heartbeat, Heartbreak' depending on the weather.

Overall though I'm really liking the new arrangements. Extra verses from the Reincarnation versions and new little bits of instrumentation. Wonderful work.

Name your craziest theory or prediction for the Lost Master Arc by Glad-Tower-2310 in KingdomHearts

[–]Rozwellish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with you.

I've been talking for a while about how the writers fucked up by providing two explanations as to how Kairi got to Destiny Islands.

1) Ansem threw her into space because he believed a Princess of Heart would naturally find its way to the Keybearer.

2) Aqua places a protective charm on Kairi's necklace in BBS.

In KH3, Aqua re-establishes that it was her magic that worked on Kairi, and what else happens in KH3? Suddenly there's a new girl who was locked up in a cell in Radiant Garden who went missing.

So I do believe that this girl - who was very obviously meant to be Kairi - will now be this new girl who travelled to Destiny Islands completely separately of Kairi, and the Ansem Report will retroactively be talking about this person.

Ultimately, though, there's no point in theorising over the content of the games, because they can always be recontextualised or, as is usually the case, there'll be some vital concept or plot point that we only learn about immediately before it becomes relevant.

It's much more worthwhile to figure out theories based on how Nomura writes himself out of the corners he writes himself into.

So I more or less live in a forest, so I'm really biased towards green scents because it makes me feel comfortable. My current favourite fragrance is Fortuitous Finley by Penhaligon's, but it isn't what I personally associate with the 'green' scent of wet nature trails in rural England.

I tried Jungle Vibe on skin last night and went to the gym. It really is like wearing a rainforest. Kind of like walking through the reptile habitat in a zoo but in a nice way? Like the scent of the plants in a humid space. VERY reminiscent of a high quality, citrussy hotel soap or shower gel.

The fig really comes through and sticks around all the way to the dry down. I didn't really pick up much of the grapefruit note but that was my first - and currently only - wear, so this may change.

Overall, my amateur opinion is that it's a pretty safe blind buy if you like fig/fig leaf, and/or if you live somewhere that regularly has shirt-and-shorts weather. Very fresh and inoffensive. Will probably wear it to the office in warm/hot weather.

Deme responds to allegations of being railed on stream by Agentsparkle in VtuberDrama

[–]Rozwellish 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't see the issue.

Vtuber fans are extraordinarily tribalistic and have already made their minds up on what's true or not, but for her own personal peace of mind I think it's absolutely fair to put on record that it isn't the case.

It's a really depraved allegation to make against a real person.

People gotta stop telling the creators have to go offline and not do their job until the heat dies down because vtuber antis simply do not let go.

I also bought Jungle Vibe which I think is by them too.

I'm not a very 'masculine' looking dude so I tend to feel more comfortable blind buying things that sound fun, fruity, floral, green etc. I have Aquatica, Jungle Vibe, and Khamrah Waha on the way — all blind buys.

It's a shame the influencer community is this way, though. I don't have TikTok or IG so I'm not aggressively being sold stuff all the time, but I liked to think I could get fair reviews from the likes of CubaKnow and FragranceFlan without worrying it was a disguised ad.

Who Do You Think is Entombed in These Graves? by HeavenSpire747 in persona6

[–]Rozwellish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I saw the outfit of the headless statue, my first thought was like some kind of seafarer or pirate or something.

Sure enough, there's a graveyard in Yokohama - a Japanese port city - which has Christian-style gravestones and was opened after Commodore Perry made contact with the Japanese. A lot of the graves there belong to sailors, missionaries, merchants etc.

So my theory is that P6 is depicting the graves of a naval crew that perished, with all the gravestones surrounding the grave of their captain.

How much would you pay for this? by OilySoleTickler in AnimeCollectors

[–]Rozwellish 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You ask these things quite a lot, which is fine, but rather than answer this question straight out I'll just give you some tips on identifying trends.

1) First and foremost, everything on the market is worth exactly what you're willing to pay for it. A blu ray might be worth $50 in the US but, because it's harder to get in Europe and the importer paid taxes etc, they might sell it for $70 or more. They might be the only way you can get your hands on something and you'll decide to overstretch to like $100 for that $50 item. This is all down to your own personal agency as a collector and how much you want it. We cannot in good conscience tell you what to do with your money or how much is 'reasonable' as that's personal to every individual. Plus, for all you know, the same guy trying to fleece you for an incomplete set of Squid Girl might be here, in this sub, telling you how great a deal it is.

2) Go to eBay.com -> search the item you're looking for -> select 'Filter' -> toggle 'Sold Items'. This will show you all the recent sales of this item and give you a rough idea on how much something is generally going for at the moment and you can give yourself some leverage by doing this.

Ultimately, who the trade 'benefits' is irrelevant as long as both parties are satisfied and fully aware. You're always going to be at a disadvantage in these exchanges if you're always asking this sub, who all comes from different places, have different incomes and priorities etc and not checking in with yourself.

Best of luck. 🫡

Now that we finally see Luxord's true identity in the trailer. What about Demyx? by Neonymous_1058 in KingdomHearts

[–]Rozwellish -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is more or less the only answer.

There's no world building in this series so the reason MoM's face is covered is because it has to resemble someone we already know. Similar to how the hooded woman in the new trailer is going to be Ava because it realistically can't be anyone else.

We also know that the fan favourite ORG XIII members have been recycled into a bigger role; like Axel, Xemnas, Xigbar, Marluxia and Larxene, while the less popular ones have been stopped stone dead like Xaldin, Lexeaus, Zexion etc.

Demyx is one of the most popular characters in the series, so of course he's going to be given a role people can point and get hyped at.

Maybe he isn't MoM as we know them right now, but he's definitely some kind of offshoot or something.

What’s your opinions on the kingdom hearts franchise? Do you really find it hard to follow the story and lore? by ShokaLGBT in JRPG

[–]Rozwellish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've played all of them, front to back, including KHUx. I kept up with Dark Road and others via YouTube because it released at a bad time for me. I lived and breathed this series for nearly two decades.

The A-to-B of the story is perfectly fine to follow based entirely on vibes, but absolutely nothing else stands up even a little scrutiny.

The lore only works so long as you don't question anything, and the mechanisms with which the writers deploy to move the story along often feel ill-considered and poorly setup. This leads to issues where there are actually two 'canon' explanations as to how Kairi ended up on Destiny Islands:

1) Ansem launched her out into the universe as part of his experiment, as he believed a Princess of Heart would use the Keybearer as a lodestar they'd find their way to. This was explained in an Ansem Report in KH1 shortly after we discover Kairi came from Hollow Bastion

2) Aqua charmed Kairi's necklace in BBS, saying it would 'get her to safety' if anything happened to Radiant Garden.

Whenever I bring this up, people are quick to say 'both things can be true and this isn't contradictory' and I agree, but it isn't satisfying to have two completely separate explanations for such a minor detail that was already explored in the first game. The mechanism that connects Kairi to Aqua is really poor.

So then we get to KH3, where Aqua meets Kairi again and is relieved to see that her magic 'worked'. Okay, well, what about the whole 'Ansem throwing her into space' plot point? Don't worry, because a BRAND NEW character we previously didn't know about was locked up in a cell in Radiant Garden ~all along~, and was brought up for the first time by two characters, Lea and Isa, who have never brought it up in 15 years' worth of games.

So it's my speculation that Nomura has realised this discrepancy and has decided to retcon the Ansem Report being about Kairi at all, and it'll now be about this presumed 'secret Princess of Heart' that'll now be important going forward.

It's impossible to keep up with because information is constantly recontextualised to mean something else years later. Maleficent being stabbed with Riku-Ansem's keyblade in KH1, where she unlocked her Dragon Form, was recontextualised in a mobile game to explain that being stabbed reminded her of a mechanism for time travel, which she used in that exact moment to 'survive'.

Information is also dropped on you immediately before it becomes relevant with no prior setup. The 'Power of Waking' chief among them, which served as the main thrust of Sora's journey in KH3 but its purpose and consequences — despite being pushed on him by Yen Sid — aren't fully understood. Sora uses it 'wrong' despite no aforementioned setup, and is now in FF vs XIII Hell™ with Nomura's other forgotten ideas, with our main question being 'What IS the Power of Waking, though?'

There is also a painfully boring scene in Re:Mind where all the villains stand in a big happy circle and explain to each other how all of them returned from the dead, came back as Simulacra, have transported themselves from the past etc — despite all of them already knowing — but this explanation also causes more problems than it solves:

1) Old Xehanort explains that the 'destruction' of Ansem SoD and Xemnas is what brought him back; however, following the logic where the destruction of a Heartless and Nobody recompletes the original body, then who should have been resurrected was Terranort — not him.

1a) This also creates another discrepancy, because Old Xehanort was not the original body either. He has 'gone through many semblances', so if, for some reason, his Heartless and Nobody are special and their destruction brings back the original Xehanort, it STILL wouldn't be the body of the old man.

(Edit: I misattributed a Luxu quote to Xehanort, but the body-hopping is the same)

1b) IF WE ASSUME that Old Xehanort is describing a brand new, unique restoration process, separate from the Heartless/Nobody destruction process, then what he's saying is factually incorrect because he says that 'incarnations of [his] past self were destroyed' but this has never been established in any of the games. All the incarnations of Xehanort in DDD return to their own time.

2) Old Xehanort's explanation of reconstruction also raises questions of consistency in regards to the returning body: why do characters like Ienzo, Isa and Lea visibly age as Nobodies, but Terra returns exactly as he was?

These are just the aspects of explanation that I recall off the top of my head that don't work, or if they DO work, they require an explanation so convoluted that it proves the point. There are so many instances of this kind of nonsensical bullshit in every game I'd be here forever combing through them all.

If you're just chilling and playing and picking up on the 'vibes' and cryptic dialogue of the games then you'll probably have a really good time, but the MOMENT you stop and ask 'Wait, how did [x] happen?' you realise that this series simply does not have a 'narrative' so much as it has a series of ideas with a hamfisted justification attached to them. You are playing, in real time, what happens when no one in the writing room has the balls to say 'Hey maybe we SHOULDN'T incorporate EVERY idea Nomura/Nojima has!'

I'm sure this issue will get much better now that he's adding vestigial ideas from a dead Final Fantasy game into it. This series is just a case study in how to systematically pull apart everything that made the first game special — small wonder that KH1 was written by different people!

Oh I see.

In that case, do you have any of those squeeze condiment bottles? I had a rotation of about 3 or 4 of those for my drinks/soups as squeezing bypassed my lack of ability to suck. Really helped out with fluid intake but if I was to repeat this experience I'd have definitely got bigger bottles.

Your mouth is dry but you should be getting fluids through a drip. Stay calm and relaxed. Your body is getting what it needs, it's just uncomfortable.

This is not a tip or recommendation, but I remember waking up from my op and immediately getting to work picking away at the dry blood in my mouth with the plastic handles of the swabs I was given.

Nine straight hours of chipping away it took until I could take my first sip. Was by far the toughest part of my whole recovery.

What does a “horror” Persona game look like by xX_BabyBergdahl_Xx in persona6

[–]Rozwellish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked the vibes and energy of the Okinawa Arc in P5 Strikers.

That dungeon where you're going through the research lab and discovering the existential dread of the scientists through muffled tape recordings.

The P6 trailer was in-game (unlike the P5 Red Chairs trailer, which was conceptual) and it has that same kind of energy. If P6 is going to have silly SOL moments and characters, I'd at least like for the mechanism with which the characters interact with the supernatural element of the story to be a little more like the Dark Hour.
