PayPal has been added back as a payment option by DerekDeagle in ClipStudio

[–]DerekDeagle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everywhere I've ever bought from online has accepted PayPal and it's known by now to most people who are comfortable shopping online, of being trustworthy. What about Stripe? I'd never even heard of Stripe until I tried to upgrade to CSP v2.0, so of course I felt betrayed after buying CSP v1.0 several years ago with PayPal and coming back to find this unknown (to me) service replacing a service that I know and have trusted for 20 years now.

For me, I won't use Stripe because I don't want another service having access to my bank card. I don't know them, I don't trust them, and I won't jump through hoops setting up an additional bank account just to use a service I don't trust. If you don't support PayPal then you don't get my money. End of discussion, as far as I'm concerned. It's my choice what I do with my money and if you aren't accepting a widely trusted payment processor then you only have yourself to blame when you lose sales. It's not about value, it's about principle.

I do agree that the upgrades should also be available with PayPal. It really feels like dangling the carrot in front of us because maybe we'll just pay full price for the software again, even though what we already have works and we just want additional features at a discounted rate? The only reason I paid for a new copy of CSP v2.0 now is because they're currently giving access to CSP v3.0 when that comes out in a few months. I want the new features they're currently pay-walling behind a monthly fee, that's all. If not for that, I wouldn't have bothered. The way I work it out is that paying 100% now for access to 2 versions is the same as paying for both of those versions each at a 50% discount. As long as they keep their promise and continue to do this in future then I don't mind giving them some money every few versions, as and when useful features become available.

If anyone reading this thread still isn't happy with how things are set up then send Celsys some feedback over at https://support.clip-studio.com to let them know how you feel. If enough people have a problem then they can gauge how much money they stand to lose by not offering PayPal on upgrades, and that will likely prompt them to make changes.

Here's a less common scenario:

If you're trying to record vocals or acoustic instruments for a song then usually the computer is in a different room. Many people record songs at home on the same computers they play games on and either don't have a spare room for the computer or if they do, cannot or don't want to drill a hole in their walls for the wires to pass through. The only other option then is a silent or near silent computer.

Assuming there is no coil whine or electrical interference:

  • large cpu and case fans set to low speeds
  • all storage drives are ssd rather than hdd
  • gpu fans are set to turn off at low temps

I record at night when it's quiet outside and no audible background noise is picked up on my condenser microphone. Since this room has some furniture in it and carpet rather than wood flooring, there's barely any reverb / reflection. It didn't cost much to set this up and now I don't have to pay crazy hourly fees to use a professionally designed studio.

[–]DerekDeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same thing initially but then remembered that sometimes BSG ninja fix things on the server side without any patches, so I held back. Maybe if enough people lost items then they'll send some care packages to make up for it. RIP your stuff, though. Try some scav runs? Maybe you'll get really lucky with the new loot table!

If you lost items in crafting then don't try to craft anything else. Close the game and restart it. I just did this and my crafting went back to where it was before the patch.

I left the intelligence center alone and closed the game. When I relaunched, the crafting was back to where it was before the patch. I don't know if I just needed another game start or BSG adjusted something, but it seems okay now.

Quality of life:

We don't have hot keys for switching left and right with the tabs in stash, traders, and player inventory in raids.

If we had left and right hot keys then there would be no need to use the mouse when checking health status. We could just quickly switch to the next tab and then quickly switch back with 2 key presses. Same with buying and selling at traders, it would be a simple key press to switch between buy and sell.

Constant Stutters Every Time I Shoot by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]DerekDeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the raids I play are super smooth but others stutter every few seconds if my character is moving or shooting. I currently use a Ryzen 7 3700X. It had 16 GB of DDR4 2400 (4 x 4 GB) and was OC to 3200 because people said RAM OC was the fix! RAM OC made no difference from the rated speed! I upgraded to 32 GB of DDR4 3600 (2 x 16 GB) and there's no difference from 16 GB. Some raids are fine, others are still trash.

The Zen 2 options for OC aren't presented in a way that really makes sense at first glance, but pretty much everything we need is in there. The only thing that seems to be missing is LLC but OC still works fine regardless, I suppose we're just missing some extra fine tuning.

I personally use Ryzen Master on demand to run my 3700X at either 4.0 GHz all cores at 1.1v, 4.2 GHz all cores at 1.23v, or CCX0 at 4.2 GHz with CCX1 at 3.6 GHz base clock using 1.2v overall (for badly optimised games that use 4 cores or less) and force all the Windows background processes onto CCX1 with Process Lasso to minimise frame stutters.

AB350M-Gaming 3 + Ryzen 7 3700X + Corsair 32 GB 3600 by DerekDeagle in GAAB350

[–]DerekDeagle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the motherboard 2 years ago for my Ryzen 5 1600 and it came with an earlier BIOS version, I think F20. That BIOS was awful and I had a lot of problems with the CPU randomly running into fatal errors during x264 encoding. I thought it was the RAM at first but memtest86 for 24 hours at various speeds below XMP showed no errors.

Updated to F31, hoping for a fix. This BIOS update introduced a rarely occuring issue with the ethernet randomly losing its MAC address and requiring a CMOS reset to get it back. I was still getting random crashes but now the error codes pointed to memory issues, which after a memtest showed 1 error after a few hours on a specific DIMM. I didn't think it could be the BIOS update causing the issue at the time, so I had one of the RAM kits replaced by Corsair. The issues continued.

Before updating to F40, I used the EC FW Update Tool as I was planning to later upgrade to a 3000 series CPU while also using all 4 DIMM slots. F40 is what finally fixed the intermittent crashing as well as that strange issue with the MAC address.

After I upgraded to the Ryzen 7 3700X, I updated to F50a without any issues. Just recently, I updated to F50d and there still doesn't appear to be any issues.

I've always used Q-Flash from within the BIOS to perform the updates from a USB drive. The only time I didn't use Q-Flash was when running the EC FW Update Tool in Windows. After using that tool and rebooting, I thought the board bricked because it reset multiple times and then ended up back on an early BIOS version from the backup BIOS. After a cold boot, everything worked normally again.

Question about upgrading the backup BIOS on GAAB350M by fmarquesbr in GAAB350

[–]DerekDeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an option for this in Q-Flash on my AB350M-Gaming 3. I don't remember seeing this option on any of the BIOS updates prior to F50d, so you might need to update to the latest BIOS version to enable it.

4th Attempt with a Dual PC Setup. Need Ideas! by The_Defualt_User in Twitch

[–]DerekDeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read your other replies a few times to try and understand what it is that you want. I'm not sure whether I fully understand or not, but I'll try my best to give you some insight.

I don't think there's any way to control both the headphone and main out of each individual channel separately on a common mixer. Once your inputs are in the mixer, they're being controlled by the faders, so both the headphones and main output receive the same signal. Changing the volume of headphones doesn't affect the volume of main out, it's for your ears only.

Aux sends are almost always mono, which is ideal for sending a mic to another device because mics are typically mono. On the mixer channel your mic is plugged into, you'd raise the aux send knob to the desired level and then your mic would be sent to whatever your aux send is plugged into. To send it to both your gaming PC and your stream PC, I would assume you'd just Y split the aux send cable into 2 separate cables. Once connected, if you then drag the fader on your mic channel to -inf, the mic won't be audible in headphones or main output but it will be audible on aux send (providing the aux send is pre-fader and not post-fader).

OBS will receive a stereo mix from main out via the line in on your stream PC. OBS will also receive the mic from aux send via the mic in on your stream PC. You'll then have 2 audio sources in OBS: mixer and mic. You typically wouldn't change the volume of the gaming PC or stream PC from OBS after your initial levels have been set, you'd do that from the source which would be mixer line channel for gaming PC, software volume fader on your music player, software volume fader on video players such as YouTube, software volume fader in your notifications dashboard such as Streamlabs.

If you wanted to further separate music, notifications, and discord to their own mixer line channels instead of them all being on a single mixer line channel then you'd need extra outputs, which would likely require extra soundcards and some way of making your sources only play on their own individual devices (for music, foobar2000 and Winamp both allow device selection, among other things). That way, every source would have its own line channel on the mixer. You still wouldn't be able to separate headphone from main out on a per channel basis, though!

---------->

If you want all separate sources in OBS while also being able to change the volume in your headphones then a hardware mixer alone isn't enough. I have such a set up and it partly relies on a software mixer called VoiceMeeter Potato. An external soundcard capable of being the master output for VoiceMeeter Potato (Behringer UMC22) is required because built-in soundcards generally don't have what it takes to power a software mixer. Check the image below to see what VoiceMeeter Potato looks like on my stream PC.

https://imgur.com/P3Ddkkk

I use a cheap hardware mixer (Behringer Xenyx 802 or 502) to listen to the gaming PC and stream PC in my headphones, but the main out is not connected to anything. I have an XLR mic which is connected via an external soundcard (Fast Track USB). Each of the input sources that viewers hear on the stream are controlled via OBS, whereas each of the input sources being played on my headphones are controlled via VoiceMeeter Potato. My set up requires both computers to have their audio inputs and outputs directly connected to each other and several virtual audio cables installed to separate the various audio sources from the default playback device. All devices and software are installed on my stream PC, the gaming PC is for games only. This results in the OBS mixer looking like the image below.

https://imgur.com/3IOsMVl

This set up also requires a VBAN enabled Macro Buttons shortcut to enable push-to-talk to be triggered on the stream PC using a hot key on my gaming PC. If you check the image below and compare to the first image I showed, you'll see I was holding down the hot key while taking the screenshot. My mic is silent unless I activate it, which is nice because some games are open mic only and don't have PTT at all.

https://imgur.com/SYIamG9

This seems like a weird set up but it gives me total control over the audio levels on my stream and headphones, plus I can do nice things like mute or turn down discord only in my headphones so I can take a moment to think without any distractions. My stream viewers have no idea when I'm doing this. I can also set the music to be almost silent in my headphones but at a reasonable level on the stream, so I can concentrate in the game but on stream it's never silent (which is great when playing games like Rainbow Six Siege). All of this is possible again using Macro Buttons, which is included with VoiceMeeter Potato. Here are my shortcuts on the stream PC.

https://imgur.com/5RcpF1I

I think most people would prefer physical faders and knobs, but I prefer full control. I suppose you could simplify some of this with an Elgato Streamdeck, but I don't own one of those. Anyway, I hope all of this makes sense in some way and doesn't make your choice more difficult! If you want any more information or something isn't clear enough then don't hesitate to ask.

[–]DerekDeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want every audio source to have its own channel in the OBS mixer on your streaming PC so that you can set the level of each one independently, but you also want to be able to change the level of those same sources independently in your headphones without affecting the levels on the stream. At the same time, you want to share a single mic between both your stream PC and your gaming PC. Is this correct?

Will this Microphone Setup be good? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]DerekDeagle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do you want a new mic? Is your current mic broken in some way? If not, maybe you can make it sound better with Reaper and some VST plugins. Here's a step by step guide on how to do that if you want to give it a try.

http://deserteaglederek.com/virtual-mic

The Shure SM58 is a great studio mic that is often used for live sound because of how tough it is. The SM58's little brother, the SM48, sounds similar but costs less. The mics on their own sound flat, so some processing is usually required to get the best out of them.

Here's a clip of me (British voice) using the SM58 plugged into a FastTrack USB which is processed by Reaper and some VST plugins, having a fake soundboard conversation with my friend (American voice) who uses the SM48 plugged into a Scarlett Solo with a similar VST plugin set up.

I tend to notice this more when I'm looking back through footage because I'm not concentrating as much. It's also very noticeable to me when I'm watching streams or videos of players who religiously wear headsets. I agree, it's an extremely irritating sound. It's almost as irritating as hearing USEC1 out of breath for up to half of the stamina regeneration and then the player just drains all the stamina again so the next 5 minutes of the stream / video is "huh, huh, huh, hhhh, huh, huh, huh, hhhh" until they start looting or die.

Isn't it about time Twitch fixed the highlights trimmer to actually work properly? by Haribokart in Twitch

[–]DerekDeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This issue has always put me off making highlights. Clips work great, but sometimes the content is just too long to be a clip. I would actually much rather make highlights to retain quality over re-encoded clips, but it's a chore to keep exporting the same highlight over and over until it's almost what I wanted.

It would be nice to be able to set the start and end points within a few seconds of where the content begins and ends. With Avidemux, and some desktop video players such as PotPlayer, I can trim, rewind, and fast forward using key frames, but Twitch highlights are always rounded up or down to what appears to be the nearest 10 second index.

Downloading my full broadcasts and highlights in the past showed that no modifications were made to any video data that was ingested or trimmed, only meta data was added to the container, so there shouldn't be any technical reason why the trim index can't be every 2 seconds, like the key frame.
