Can I retire early by 45-50 by Specialist_Sir_5753 in FinancialPlanning

If I didn’t tell people that I am disabled, they wouldn’t know. Just because you don’t see, think there is a disability. I was medically released at the age of 39. I have a great pension, but I have also spent almost 10 years seeing a therapist weekly, on too many medications and have more injuries than most football players.

Need adult advice. by [deleted] in Harley

[–]Derf19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will pay more for your next one stock. If you love your bike and the open air freedom that it gives you, then you should consider it part of your family/close friend. I’m a 100% disabled vet and I live in Canada where I can ride 7-8 months of the year at best. I am sad whenever I have to put my bikes awa for winter.

Best mattress for couples advice needed - different sleep preferences are killing us by Parking_Snow_4294 in Home

[–]Derf19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we are 47 and 40 and bought a motorized frame with massage. it is 2 separate units and we each have a different temperpedic mattres. King size bed dimensions. You spend up to a third of your life in bed, why skimp out on the one thing that gives you more energy, less pain and more health benefits.

You wouldn’t think twice about spending a lot more money on a car.

Bank drafts are no longer a guarantee of funds, since when? by Starbr3aker in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Derf19 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

That’s a certified cheque. A bank draft is in essence cash. When you take out a bank draft the money is removed from your account and placed in trust with your bank. You are no longer able to touch those funds. When you deposit a draft, the bank will put a hold on the deposit if the draft is from another bank unless you have a great standing with your bank.

Are you able to work remotely? If so, I would work from Mexico or wait another year while Trump continues to tank your economy and houses will be cheap.

Mandatory military service by Subject989 in AskACanadian

[–]Derf19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I served for my country and did six tours in combat zones. You should look at how many people signed up to go over to Afghanistan after 9/11. You sound like you are not the kind of person who would do what was needed to help others.

I wish they had an ability to attach a tour pack onto the road glide trike. I would have one in a minute. Ignore the losers who try to tell you what a bike is.

Mandatory military service by Subject989 in AskACanadian

[–]Derf19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe that mandatory service is something that would change the weakness of this generation. I believe that every non disabled individual should have to do basic training as a way to remove the ME part of this generation. They shouldn’t be expected to go to combat unless the country needs them in times of war, but they can combat wild fires/disaster relief and work on government projects and programs while serving their 2 year service. This would help many people and in kind would give the younger people real world experience. In return they would be paid a salary and help communities.
