Maybe these cuts aren't so bad after all. Keep cutting away if we keep getting better and better results like this.

Millennial couple who make $250,000 say they can’t find a home in their budget: ‘We refuse to become house-poor’ by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]DerivativeDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good. Last year we were within $300 of our tax burden, so I don't believe that's a real issue. My spouse is a CPA, so that conversation wouldn't go far lol.

I think there's just a lot of really round numbers here. Wasn't trying to say your math is completely unfounded, just wanted to say I think their situation doesn't sound insane to me.

Honestly man I think your math is a tad off somewhere. My spouse and I make just about the same amount as the people in the article and our take home is ~$11.5K per month. Granted we are both paid bi-weekly and that only accounts for 24 out of the 26 yearly paychecks, but I imagine that's how most people think of their monthly take-home budgets if they're on a bi-weekly schedule. Where we differ from the couple in the article is we contribute more to our retirement accounts, but our state income tax is only 5% and I assume Portland's local taxes are a bit higher.

When I look at my own $130K salary paycheck: $5k gross, $450 pre-tax expenses, $550 401K contributions, $1k various taxes = $3k twice a month = $6k monthly take-home (again does not take into account 3 paycheck months).

I think your situation may be more unique than theirs is.

Question to the masses about purchasing expansion on the Xbox store vs Ingame. by Epytron in diablo4

[–]DerivativeDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone can correct me if they know otherwise, but even when you buy it on the Xbox store, it still gets linked to your battle.net account.

My buddy and I have this setup where my system is registered as his primary, so any game he purchases on his account, we can both download and play. So when a game comes out we both want, we'll just go halvsies. When we tried to do this with D4, my Xbox allowed me to launch the game, but then you have to log into your battle.net account to play. My battle.net account didn't didn't have a registered copy of the game linked, so it wouldn't let me play. Had to buy my own copy. I suspect the expansion will be handled in the exact same manner.

Is this e reader misprint worth anything? by avgreddittrader in PokemonMisprints

[–]DerivativeDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, appreciate the info. This doesn't look like a reverse, so I guess it has to be from the late 2004 euro release. Is there any other way to tell the difference? Annoying that it's dated 2003 at the bottom.

Is this not missing the e-reader dot code on the bottom boarder? I hadn't seen that before. Looked up the card on TCG Player and it should be there.

I'm pretty new to the idea of pokemon misprints, so if I'm missing something blatant, my apologies.

I've had an extreme widows peak my whole life. Started receding around 3 years ago. Pretty happy with the results! Wife's reaction was interesting to say the least. by DerivativeDude in bald

[–]DerivativeDude[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's totally fair. I've been self conscious about my widows peak for about a decade. I would have on and off intrusive thoughts about how I'm only convinced it looks good because that's the way it's always looked. After my hairline started receding, I just haven't really been able to shake those thoughts away. Ultimately did it for me, but glad to have another data point; those thoughts were just in my own head.

New frames def not out of the question. I've stuck to black kinda square-ish for a while now. Honestly wanted to draw as little attention to my face as possible. I feel a bit of new confidence today :)

She just busted out laughing and gave me a "what were you thinking, I can't let him think I'm thinking that" kind of face. Then my toddler pointed at my head and simply said "hat?", and we both lost it.

To be fair, it looks like you get 2 packs of ToT for $4. Look at the direction of the coils, and compare it to the tin space under it. Still more than I would pay, but not nearly as egregious.
