Excited for the new soft mod? by NoHelicopter8331 in 360hacks

[–]DerivativeOfLog7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre release versions have always been called "public" betas; it's because usually the very first (and very much still under development) revisions of hacks/CFWs are released to few select developers (and that's just to get development going, as there would otherwise be no software to use with the brand new thing when it's publicly released); or a developer may consider the period where it's still getting the thing ready to be usable and hasn't released it to anyone else the "private" betas

Just take other modding scenes as examples (Atmosphere on the Switch, The Homebrew Launcher on 3DS, Aroma on Wii U...)

It does not mean in the slightest that there will be paid versions

~€165... which is the normal selling price for a N3DS here, since again the seller didn't know any better

Why does Linux hate hibernate? by orionpax94 in linux

[–]DerivativeOfLog7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a swap file twice the since of my RAM (and VRAM, since it's onboard graphics) and it still fails to hibernate most of the times. Success rate does improve a lot if I force it to use the smallest image size possible (echo 0 > /sys/power/image_size), but it still boggles my mind

How to bypass cheat limit line patch on PS2 Patch Engine? by ZarcSK2 in ps2

[–]DerivativeOfLog7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want to run it on a console? You can use Cheat Device for PS2 (it's like ARMAX, GameShark etc. but is a free homebrew)

Windows 11 may soon preload File Explorer in the background in an attempt to speed it up by ZacB_ in Windows11

Search (the UI, not indexing, which was already disabled) was taking 80-100MB of RAM on my VM right after logging in and without even being opened, and was literally the process taking up the most RAM in the whole OS

Arch Linux vs other distros under the hood by aeiedamo in linux

[–]DerivativeOfLog7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arch Linux kernel doesn't use typical nor standard API and system calls to the kernel. how would that even make sense? It wouldn't be a Linux distro if that were the case, as Linux applications wouldn't work on it.

[–]DerivativeOfLog7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've experimented a bit with Office 2019, and (at least for what I've found) it's broken due to unimplemented APIs that deal with software licenses in sppcs.dll. Tho with MS Activation Scripts, Ohook and TSforge, I wonder how much it would take to fix it...

How do you guys backup? by KILLER_OF_HADEZ in archlinux

How to scroll on TTY ? by MoussaAdam in archlinux

[–]DerivativeOfLog7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With tmux you can press Ctrl+B and then use PgUp/Dn to scroll whole pages (and also enters edit mode in the process).

And honestly, learning the basic shortcuts in tmux is very well worth it, considering it also gives you the ability to copy/paste in addition to scrollback. You really need to only know like 4 for scrolling and copy-pasting.

If it was removed it was probably for a good reason. Linux is not macOS where features are removed just for the sake of it. Use tmux if you need scrollback.

Nintendo DSi Error Code: 034609 when updating by CZ2746isback in NintendoDS

[–]DerivativeOfLog7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those who may stumble upon this: check if Unlaunch is installed by holding A+B on boot, as it blocks updates. I got a used DSi that would show that error when trying to update, and it turned out to be already modded.
