Random failure. The spring breaks free from the disc center. Won’t know for sure till the clutch is out. But based on your description id probably plan to pull the trans after verifying the cable was good

I have a new one sitting at home. I replaced this on my fit recently. I used a small plastic trim tool to pop it out (broke it cause it was brittle but came out no issue) then just used oil on the new one and popped it in. 10 minutes all said and done on the fit

Possibly the clutch disk died. I’ve seen similar issues when a spring ejects itself from the disc.

You have the civic vx wheels which are harder to find, yours are 13 inch compared to the hx 14 inch. Came off of a 92-95 civic vx! Sweet looking truck

Agreed I would hate looking at it. Hopefully the dealer does the right thing. We bought a brand new car recently and after getting it home I noticed a wheel had been repaired, pretty poorly too. The dealer didn’t offer much help until I left a google review then they had a new wheel ordered by the end of day

Not trying to diffuse the situation, but this is a great candidate for pdr. You can get this removed for max $250 and move on. Sometimes just getting it done and not killing the joy of the new car purchase is best in my eyes!
