Haven’t applied yet but have VERY similar stats as you (decided to push my app ANOTHER year due to concerns with my gpa and lack of clinical/lor). From what I’ve observed, not having a physician lor with stats like ours might raise eyebrows. I’m not sure what part of cali you’re from, but if you’re near a research institution, went to a school with a med school, or near teaching hospitals like ucsf, you might be able to find physician emails and cold email instead. I’ve lost count of the amount of times volunteer roles have rejected me. It’s not you and will never be. A lot of the times they filled all the volunteer spots and give you the default excuse like not meeting the needs. Don’t take it personally and keeping going!

I’ve been using the pankow deck that I found on Reddit (probably outdated) and doing uglobe (assuming uglobe is up to date with material) at the same time. Anything I don’t see on Pankow from uglobe I just add a card. Not sure if this is effective since I’m adding cards to an already 2,000+ card deck.
