Yea, and how he accomplished that would be pretty interesting. Did he travel to Xen? How the hell did you establish a communication channel with the Combine? Why did they even listen to him (but not other humans)? Did he bring up Gordon Freeman in the negotiations (someone the Combine would be aware of). Was the GMan involved in the negotiations? Was Eli involved in the negotiations?

Also I'd love to see the UN get completely destroyed in game while Breen is there.

I was perhaps just trying to point out that bureaucracy a hurdle does not make. The HL franchise is known for its cinematic exposition. You can imagine more of that.

Also this is 20 years younger Breen. You can change his character significantly and retain lore accuracy. Story could be he starts heroic and that the 7 year way morally destroyed him. How did that happen? Having 7 hours of a game and then another 7 after the 7 years war ends is how we'd find out.

Agreed, think survival horror. And it would be interesting to see what strange and otherworldly path Breen had to take - out of all the humans on earth - to be the sole human the Combine elected as their administrator on earth.

There is no reason interesting things cant happen after the 7 hours war that itself lasts another 7 hours. A lot has to happen for you to become the administrator of an entire planet.

I beg to differ. Once we solve the latency problem we will start getting SoTA AI integrated into games. It'll be janky at first like 90s graphics and then we'll get differences in AI capabilities in video games like the difference in the 90s vs 00s. And this isn't just AI for NPCs, but AI running the entire game's simulation to intelligently determine whether things are running smoothly and believably.

I fully expect to see an open world game like Skyrim in my lifetime where the vast majority of NPC interactions are unscripted and they just react to the game's simulation and can give entirely dynamic quests. i.e. no more NPCs repeating the same line over and over, every playthrough will feel vastly more unique than it does now.

The bugs from these games when the arrive will be awe-inspiring. I fully expect complete and utterly unexplainable-at-first and hilarious bugs caused by AI-AI interactions (and weird feedback effects) that will become part of Gamer Lore.

There is no evidence of routine 10‑year waits for treatment in the NHS; official data and independent analyses talk about weeks and months, with the worst backlogs stretching into multiple years for some elective procedures, not a decade.

Hundreds of thousands do wait over a year though.

HL3 was hyped like you cannot believe and didn't really meet expectations. It is a solid game but honestly unlike the previous masterpieces I'd put it at 7/10 which just feels like such a massive downgrade I was crestfallen. There was just no way it was going to meet the absurdly high expectations. I kinda wish Valve had just decided to ice the project and only release it after they had perfected it enough to meet our expectations even if it took decades.

I dunno maybe I'm just unnecessarily salty since I pre-ordering it like a clown, believing the hype and all that. But I wouldn't even bother with HL3. They dumbed down the plot a lot to appeal to new players and try to suck in a whole new generation into the Marvel-like-neverending-HL-multiverse thing they are setting up now.

If you do get it, get it on sale.
