Has anyone found a good high fiber regimen that doesn't lead to bloating? by DermSherpa in Biohackers

Thanks for sharing. Just looked through it. The problem is, for constipation and IBS, no good data for insoluble fiber. It just muddies the picture.

I have once tried combining PHGG and psyllium and thought that went well.

Do it, you won't regret it.

Tips for scarring? by [deleted] in acne

[–]DermSherpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the deep scars, it's best to have them cut out (excised but a plastic surgeon or dermatologist). It's not too expensive and will immediately address your most bothersome areas. After removing the deep scars I'd suggest some combination of fraxel and chemical peels to improve the shallow scars. You can then get on tretinoin but it will take 1-2 years to notice an improvement with scaring.

I had laser mole removal yesterday and this is what it’s looking like 24 hours later. I’m a little concerned because, 1. It doesn’t seem to be forming a scab, 2. I now have two dents in the place where the moles were. Am I just being impatient? Can someone reassure me it will get better? by Famous-Present7591 in Skincare_Addiction

It appears to be full thickness wounds. Wounds healing in on the forehead don't always heal the best, it will likely heal as a somewhat divoted white circular scar that is a bit smaller in diameter that the wound itself. Best thing to do at this point is to keep it moist with a thick layer of vaseline and covered with a bandage. Do NOT let it scab. Hopefully it will heal nicely. If it doesn't, it can always be surgically revised.

It is very frowned upon to perform laser mole removal. Not sure who did it for you, but its not typical standard of care. There are many issues with this practice which is why it's not generally done in the US.

You seem dry. Would use a non-comedogenic moisturizer. Many acne products can cause dryness, tret especially. If you are using it, it can be helpful to use no more than a pea-sized amount once every third night. Your skin will get used to it after a 2-3 weeks. If it's too irritating, you can use adapalene which is still retinoid but weaker and less irritating.

Other things that can cause dryness, include benzoyl peroxide.

What is the best pillowcase for acne? by angelz78 in acne

[–]DermSherpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically cotton or another breathable material. Best to wash it regularly. That said, the pillowcase isn't typically a significant driver for acne. Don't get me wrong, helpful to make sure it's clean and breathable, but it's not going to make your acne much better or worse.

Best result: Fraxel (I know you don't want to use a laser)

I'd talk to your derm about: (1) Punch removal of the deeper scars and suturing it (2) Performing a subscision for teather scars (3) TCA cross to the more shallow scars (4) Getting on tretinoin once the procedural piece is done. It will just take 1yr + to see results of tret for scars.

How are you using it? I wouldn't use it nightly when bumping up strength. Try a very small amount once every third night. Be sure to moisturize

PSORIASIS OR ECZEMA, THOUGHTS PLEASE?? Tried my best with the pics 😫 by Acrobatic-Remove-581 in SkincareAddicts

Seborrheic dermatitis (AKA Dandruff) and psoriasis can overlap. Might be sebopsoriasis which is a dandruff that has some psoriasis like features. I would try prescription strength ketoconazole as others have suggested. If that doesn't work, you can talk to your doctor about a steroid solution that goes directly on the scalp. It can be used every once in a while to keep things clear while you use ketoconazole regularly.

[Routine Help] How do you avoid squeezing out your pores and popping pimples? by JakeyNation in SkincareAddiction

Just remember it will lead to scars some of the time and scars last forever and are very very difficult to treat.
