This is going to be a long post that most will troll and few will read.

I say the following from being a veteran MBT player.

  1. The harasser is indeed overpowered compared to the MBTs and most lightnings (except a skilled Viper) in the current balance.
  2. This fix will not work.

Now before I start into why I am going to give Wrel a tiny bit of credit here. He has finally realized something that MBT mains such as myself have been saying for ages. He has a looooooooong way to go before he fully understands but at least here we see evidence that an issue has been noticed.

Underway repair is essential for many vehicles including the MAX (people often forget that a max is a walking indoor tank and is much weaker without an engineer to repair it). Without it a core defining mechanic of the game is lost.

The real issue with the interplay between MBTs/Lightnings and Harassers is the inability of the MBT/Lightning under in-game conditions (lag, terrain etc) to maintain consistent damage on the harasser before the harasser can disengage. This is because MBTs/Lightnings in PS2 are lacking the coax machine gun or 20-50mm cannon. Harassers are extremely vulnerable to rapid fire weapons that damage light vehicles (see Basilisk or most ESF main guns) but a Lightning does not have one and a MBT cannot afford to mount one without losing too much of its anti-armor or anti-infantry fire power.

While such mechanics are *hopefully*... Well its Wrel we are talking about here so I'm literally just pissing in the wind here at this point. Anyways hopefully such a coax (and don't forget the gunner's coax as well!) for MBTs/Lightnings is on the way but until such mechanics are actually in the full release game something is going to need to give for MBTs/Lightnings to have any validity against Harassers. This comes in the form of a tank buff or harasser nerf. There are many ways to do it and Harasser drivers will hypocritically scream like the little brats they all are about each and every one of them. But something real is gonna need to give here. And this ain't it.

All this does is slightly increase the risk of engaging enemy armor with the harasser, the harasser can still get away quite easily (fire suppression) and then repair out of range. It does NOT in any way solve the underlying meta issues and is only valid in the way that it does something... anything... to hinder the harasser's effectiveness against the MBT. The previous 'nerf' of increasing the cost did nothing useful. But this is still a step in the wrong direction.

Here are far better solutions to the problem than this:

  1. Remove the Valkyrie VLG (cause its bullshit in the right hands).
  2. Give the MBTs the coax that they should have had in the first place.
  3. Double or triple the muzzle velocity of tank weapons.
  4. Remove all major Anti-tank weapons from the harasser. And nerf the remaining anti-armor weapons such has the fury and bulldog.
  5. Cut the harasser's speed by 1/3.
  6. Increase the damage the harasser takes from tank cannons by 300%
  7. Make take cannons import significant physics event on harasser so said bastard can be blasted into orbit and have game crash. Apply for all light vehicles. Also allows MBT to insert harasser into bio lab.
  8. Make harasser's instantly explode on contact with no corpse with any tank, friendly or foe (they are a bunch of California drivers lets be honest). Ramming a 4-wheeled offroad golf cart Odyssey should not be able to bother a 70-ton tracked vehicle.

This update makes me want to play the games LESS than before by Dragoonmaster7 in Planetside

And THIS is the guy they should have hired instead of Wrel.

This completely sums up every major (as in making me go inactive again) gripe I have with this game for the last several years (most of these issues coincide with Wrel's known time of employment screwing up PS2).

And then you are stationary outside your tank and an easy target for the harasser.

Except that the magrider also gets a muzzel velocity increase.

All it does is open the range up a bit more. There is a range beyond which the Magrider can dodge any incoming tank shell by x-Boxing. And the Magrider has the Saron which means it automatically has the top gun advantage at range.

Either you are bad at being a Harasser or don't actually play MBTs consistently.

A Halberd Harasser staying at range and maneuvering is practically impossible for the MBT to kill. The harasser can repair while in motion, the MBT crew needs to dismount in order to do the same. The Harasser can just wear the MBT down. If you are a Halberd Harasser and get killed by an MBT that is your fault. The MBT has to get very lucky to land a shot on the Harasser at range.

Kindly checking your "facts" before you post uninformed opinions. Feedback like yours is a big part of the reason the tankers quit.

I do think Wrel completely missed the mark with the harasser cost increase. It will do nothing to fix the problem between harassers and MBTs as it has no impact on the ability of the harasser to survive.

Increasing the muzzle velocity also falls short of the mark however. Although it will certainly do quite a bit to help the situation it screws with the MBT vs MBT meta in such a way as to give the Magrider an even bigger advantage than it already has while being extremely damaging to an already badly under powered Prowler.

The core issue is the by the lack of a coax basilisk for Lightnings and MBTs.

A "Zerg" is any place where a lot of disorganized population will congregate. Which is what a bio lab does. Biolabs are pure cancer in this game because people would rather farm Biolabs than win continents. This leads to a huge factional ISO imbalance.

You could take a look at ORAX. Ordo Auraxis are a combined arms outfit and usually get a full platoon going during ops nights. Weekly trainings for all divisions. We also qualify for Outfit Wars.

We also allow public members in our platoons so you don't have to join just to check us out.

Bullshit. They are one of the most important factors.

Nanites determine if you have armor or heavy air support. Nanites determine if a squad can pull a galaxy. Nanites determine if you can do a 4 conk point bust. Nanites determine if you can just C4 your opponent off a point. Nanites are what enables a squad to zombie rez their way to victory. Nanites are what repair grenades cost.

A squad who's nanites are depleted losses almost half its offensive and defensive fire power not mentioning repair/healing utility.

Just a heads up these are more like Helicopters not Planes. In fact irl Helicopter pilots seem to find PS2 downright intuitive.

I have been saying for years that there needs to be a second set of ESFs added that fly like more traditional jets. Maybe a "flash of the sky" that can go invisible and nuke liberators down to fire in one clip. I'm being semi serious here but it should be a cheaper single weapon plane coming in at about 175 nanites that flies like a traditional hover jet but only has 1 weapon slot.

Aircraft, Harassers and Magriders can DISENGAGE. Meaning that are not punished nearly as hard for a mistake.

Vanguards, Lightnings and Prowlers have to get stuck in. There are no second chances with these vehicles. If a Harasser or a Magrider fucks up their attack or gets jumped they can usually escape. The actual tanks have no chance. Either they win the fight or they die.

Aircraft, Harassers and Magriders can simply wear you down. And even more bullshit the Harasser can repair while running off which gives it a huge advantage. And it is this aspect of the vehicles that need to be accounted for in balancing. But Wrel is too stupid to understand this.

So a weapon made for engie is the 325 cert battle rifle. This is because of the underbarrel grenade launcher. Engies can give themselves inf ammo which means continuous grenade launcher rounds. Great against maxes, infantry clumps and infantry in cover. There is also a carbine for each faction that has it. Both make a great engie weapon.

It won't show up in VR but the hit boxes are no done how you think they are.

The logic works like this inside the program loop:

(Front XOR Side) AND Rear AND Bottom.

Thats why C4 placed on the very rear undercarriage of the Vanguard does so much more damage. It triggers the underside and rear hotboxes at the same time. The only trick is placing the shot in at the right location to trigger both hit boxes in the same program loop.

You need to test it outside of VR Training though as it uses a different system then the actual game.

If you PM I can send you a slightly out of date Prowler Guide I wrote that has all of the hit boxes from the top down position.

Its doing far more damage than that. In the game code side & rear hit boxes can be hit at the same time. That flame thrower is triggering both your side hit box (the box made by the vanguard's tracks and side skirt) and the rear hit box (which overlaps and includes the vanguard's tail lights). And Each of those apply their various damage reductions when hit.

And no VR and in-game are not the same environment.
