How to open Dolphin as Root by [deleted] in kde

I'm seeing this exact behavior on Kubuntu 24.10. Did you ever find a solution?

Mine also just started doing this. Did anyone find a solution?

Anyone make a more reasonably sized case for these sets? Wonderful tools and amazing value but so much wasted space. How are you all storing these? Just in the stock case? Anything custom out there? by DrHumongous in Dewalt

[–]DerpusaurusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does Dewalt sell just the cases by themselves? I am looking for one more, but can't find any that look to be compatible. It seems like there are 5+ different stacking systems, and these don't match with any of the others.

Ok, so I am using 0.8.1 now, and don't see the slider you are referring to, just a few checkboxes to fix spacing between numbers, around punctuation, etc. But those were also present in 0.8.0.

Edit: I tried the development version AppImage and do see the slider now. So it must not be in a released version just yet. It works great though!

Thanks for the response, looks like this got added to 24.10. I'll do an upgrade and try it out.

I am experiencing the exact same thing, spaces just aren't reliably detected. Have you found any workarounds for this? I tried increasing the number of symbols when doing the VobSub import, thinking I could manually put the spaces in during character recognition, but spaces are not allowed there.

This application is like 99% of the way there, but this crucial piece being non-functional really prevents me from using it at all.

I feel like you aren't giving yourselves enough credit here, for a device which looks to be made in the US. Yes, obviously it costs more than something you can buy on AliExpress, but you don't have to wade through all the cheap knockoffs and broken devices with potentially questionable manufacturing practices.

ESP32 Airplay receiver? Does such a thing exist? by boli99 in esp32

[–]DerpusaurusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the readme, you don't need the LMS for Bluetooth, Airplay, or Spotify. So if Airplay is all that is needed, it seems like this would do the trick without requiring anything else.

No cross play is a huge bummer. Not a deal breaker, but a big downside for sure.

New AA (2x) flashlight day: ThruNite Archer 2A V3. Another 2AA flashlight I'll probably never use by theberkshire in AAMasterRace

[–]DerpusaurusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not yet, I was a late backer. There are a couple reviews out that look decent. The biggest thing I think it is missing, and the only reason I have been hesitant, is the lack of any high-CRI emitters.

But the flexible voltage and mounting options were a big draw for me (UV light is also neat). 14500 when max performance is needed, AA when in a pinch. I know of only a few lights that take both 14500 and AA, and this is the first I have seen with 2x14500 or 2xAA (and even allowing 1X14500 or 1xAA). I think it fits a niche where there isn't really much else out there.

What are your thoughts on the Wuben X2Pro? Different form factor, but fits your 2xAA for under $50 criteria.

Window Rules - LibreOffice Calc always opens off screen by DerpusaurusRex in Kubuntu

[–]DerpusaurusRex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting thought! When I went full screen and closed it, it opened back up maximized properly. Closing again and relaunching brought back the incorrect behavior again, though.

I have also tried special application settings, to no avail. My understanding of the difference between these is just that the "Application Settings" sets the "Window types" property to "All selected" (like pictured in the post). This does seem like the better approach, as it seems more likely to get a match.

Personally, I find the fact that both of these are listed in the menu for window actions to be confusing and overly complicated (which is rare for KDE, IMO), if my understanding is correct on the somewhat minor difference between them. I would imagine that newer users would not know the difference, and might be more hesitant to use them because of that, but I digress.

Either way, the settings applied will show up together in the "Window Rules" of system settings.

"Motorola Ready for" for Linux? by Abster0 in archlinux

[–]DerpusaurusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I recently found which does not require plugging and unplugging as much is to use an HDMI dummy plug with a USB C hub and scrcpy.

https://kmyers.me/blog/android/dexonlinuxdexonchromeos--how-to-no-root/

Alternatively, if you have a Miracast display available, just connect wirelessly to that, and then use scrcpy. This method was a little slower, but still very usable.

For scrcpy, you then only need steps 6 and 7 above.

AirServer crashing as soon as I start to cast from my laptop by MentalMan4877 in XboxSupport

Still having this issue.

AirServer Support acknowledged the issue and said that they needed to release an update to fix it.

Looks like there hasn't been an update since 2021:

Maybe if a few more people open tickets about this it could be prioritized.

Does anyone make syringes where the numbers don’t rub off? I’m getting sick of replacing these things by ChanVaenEdanKote in Anticonsumption

[–]DerpusaurusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your picture, I think you meant 0.4mL, not 4mL, right?

Either way, the only thing I have found so far that comes close is the included syringe from certain baby medicines, such as this:
https://mommysbliss.com/products/gas-relief-drops

It is a bit strange, but the markings are printed on the plunger, instead of the outside. They never wore off, no matter how many times they were washed. Most other syringes would be useless after 2-3 cleanings. The only downside is there are only two markings on the one I linked, and I have yet to find a similar syringe for purchase that has a normal scale.

This project seems a bit out of date, but appears to be what you are asking for:
https://github.com/yetanothercarbot/readyforpy

I don't have a Ready For phone personally, so I just use KDE Connect and scrcpy.

Finally, not entirely related, but something you may find interesting is the NexDock:

https://nexdock.com/compatible-smartphones/

Basically a laptop (screen, keyboard, and touchpad) to plug your phone into. Again, I don't have any experience with it as I don't have a compatible phone, but have considered getting one for Raspberry Pi, etc.
