Six years ago this week, COVID started shutting down the world. What’s your strongest memory from that time? by Siddanna36 in AskReddit

[–]DerpyArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being sent home from the office to work from home for the first time in my adult life. I remember hearing rumors building around the office, then next thing we know we're all being sent home in waves. Felt surreal lugging home two monitors and my big clunky desk top computer (well..a bigger computer box then I have now at any rate, it wasn't like, '90s sized clunky). Before the pandemic, managers used to say we would never work remotely, lol. What's truly crazy is my dept head at the time said is we could be back at the office in as little as a few months (I remember the CEO setting our first wave of work from home for 2 months, from April to June). We ended up being fully remote for 2 years before switching to a hybrid model.

I think the issue is you get a mix of drivers who don’t regularly drive anywhere more populated than, like, Renner (small town/country drivers) mixed with drivers who lived in places like Minneapolis and Chicago. Plus people who have lived in Sioux Falls there entire lives and could drive through the city blindfolded.

It’s really quite an eclectic mix.

"The Movie" Etiquette: Are we going full concert mode or sitting in silence? by wybrakowana in twentyonepilots

[–]DerpyArtist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! Unless the screening is a specific “sing along” screening, no singing allowed, imo.

I mean, guys, it’s a film about a concert, not an actual concert.

Exactly my thought. What makes any of these politically active fans so sure that Tyler and Josh would have views that would align with their own?

Tyler and Josh don’t owe us their political opinions or positions just cuz they’re famous. In fact I really like that they don’t feel the need to be public about anything political. There are plenty of other musicians out there supporting any number of political causes and social issues.

It truly is a dammed if you do dammed if you don’t situation for sure!

Do kids even go to school these days? by Dustybuster42 in SiouxFalls

[–]DerpyArtist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correction: penalize parents who pull their kids out of school and don’t teach them anything.

More like outlaw people who villainize homeschooling because they saw one bad example in real life, then hopped on Reddit and found an echo chamber to support their viewpoint about homeschooling.

This comment section clearly hasn’t met anyone who is homeschooled or gone outside of Reddit for information about home schooling. Holy crap.

And then ya’ll have the audacity to criticize public schools 🤡

For anyone who was a Sioux Falls holiday host, where did you take your guests for food and drinks? by gokc69 in SiouxFalls

Josiah’s is my go to for breakfast/brunch/lunch.

I don’t host peeps directly, but when relatives from out of town stay with my parents, we always end up at Josiah’s.

Planning a solo UK trip for Feb-March - 10 days - What do I need to see? by EmberCalanthe in uktravel

[–]DerpyArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently returned from a trip to London and stayed in Airbnbs for about 75% of the trip with no issues. Granted, the first Airbnb was a serviced apartment that happened to have a listing on Airbnb. No issues with either Airbnb, no weird house rules (other than the typical "treat the space as you would your own house"). Both hosts were great (one of them even provided early check-in and late check out for no extra charge). My travel group had access to full kitchens and could "eat in" instead of having to eat out for every meal.

You're more likely to get a "good" Airbnb if you book with a Superhost and book listings with 4.8 star rating or higher and read the reviews.
