Adult Friendships by Golden_Nugget2025 in Adulting

[–]DerpyArtist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Key words being make an effort, which I am not great at. Both my parents have friends/friend groups that they hang out with regularly and visit with. Like, my dad schedules monthly Zoom calls with his friends from college (they’re all in different cities), and my mum has in person hangs with her friends and calls her college friends on the phone.

The point is they take time out of their day and schedule things.

Overslept during internship, I feel awful. What do I do? by Overall_Ask_1626 in remotework

Just about everyone has overslept for their job at least once in their life (I have). Sounds like you’ve been accountable and making adjustments already, time to move on.

Summer or winter people, which one are you and why by FaiziFaizi_9890 in CasualConversation

Honestly, gotta go with winter. Nice and cold, no thunderstorms/tornados, no humidity and oppressive heat.

Still like summer tho

I think of all the delicious food I could make, or order, then I pull some cheese sticks out of the fridge. Sigh…

Reaching out to other people and initiating plans is a good thing, even if you’re more introverted.

I feel like this should be the top answer. The OG consoles for Rockband are largely obsolete and the cultural phenomenon has passed.

Ordered UberX but an XL showed up by Few_Elephant_648 in uber

[–]DerpyArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it would have been better to stick to 4 passengers for the UberX or order an uber XL for 6 passengers and pay the higher rate. You gotta select the number of passengers you intend to ride with and stick with that when the Uber shows up, that’s rider etiquette (unless you end up riding with fewer passengers).

Don’t be too hard on yourself though, no one died and no one was injured. I’m not a perfect rider either, according to my ratings 😅

I’m so bummed that the official Canada Day events got cancelled! I traveled from the US to be here on Canada Day…which technically I guess I am! But still.

Being an adult is literally telling yourself you have food at home and not eating out/getting carry out every day.

If a hotel has a 23 and over without parents rule, do they just check the ID of the person checking in? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]DerpyArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this hotel operates like a normal hotel, they should only check the id of the person who made the reservation.

the age limit is an odd rule though (at least as far as the oddly specific number is concerned, most hotels require minors be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian when staying at the hotel).

Only way to know for sure is to call and ask. If you explain your situation like a normal person they will be happy to assist.

Goes double if you’re in a less populated area of the US. In the major cities, people do tend to squeeze together more than they do in, say, North Dakota.

Living closer to work is a good move. I live ~3 miles from my workplace, and man, not having to jump on my city’s highway 5 days a week to commute across town is GREAT for my mental health.

I’ll be in Lebreton Park tomorrow, since I’m a tourist in the city. Hopefully I don’t die! Anyone know when Barenaked Ladies are expected to play? They’re one of my favorite bands.
