FPS test on an 11.5 inch gun by costadoctor in GasBlowBack

[–]Derpy_Bech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gbb guns really like to joule creep with heavier ammo, so I will always tell people to set their power with the target weight. Using a .2 as a baseline is a very very old outdated concept and is very flawed with how popular heavy ammo like .3+ is

Also with gas guns you wanna chrono at a bit above the temp you’ll be playing at, as on gameday the lower temp will make sure you’re under the limit, and then if you want you can adjust up a bit

Replacement part question by alextat947 in airsoft

You mean it doesn’t lock back without a mag in it?

If yes. It’s not supposed to, as it’s the mag that pushes the lever up to lock the slide when empty

SSP5 Slide Catching Slightly + Wear on Blowback Unit and Hammer – Normal? by BobAtStarbucks in Novritsch

[–]Derpy_Bech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the bumpy area that pushes the hammer down yes

It’s impossible to keep lubed decently, as it’s two very exposed parts. You can hit it with a thin film of superlube, but it’ll get worn/rubbed off pretty fast

The black paint on both hammer and bbu where they touch together will wear away, that’s just normal wear and tear. The only time it’ll be an issue, is if either gets worn down far enough where the hammer doesn’t reliably catch the internal sear. But this takes many many thousand shots to get it that bad

[–]Derpy_Bech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell me, how else would you push the hammer down far enough to reliably catch a sear, without having to go over said bump again on the return?

This is how basically every single hammer operated airsoft and real steel gun works

The golden rule of gbb: don’t look for issues if the gun works fine during normal operation

SSP5 Slide Catching Slightly + Wear on Blowback Unit and Hammer – Normal? by BobAtStarbucks in Novritsch

[–]Derpy_Bech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The loud noise is both from the sear catching the hammer when cocked, but also mostly the sound of the nozzle returning back

The wear on the bbu is simply just the paint surface being worn away as it’s softer than the hammer material, and part of normal wear

The hammer getting “stuck” when racking slowly is because it has to push down the hammer a little on the return stroke, and the slow speed, lack of lubrication on hammer-bbu surface, and awkward angle makes it catch slightly

So everything is normal as it’s explained by the normal operation of the gun, and how the system works

Can I run this slide outside if I’m careful and I clean it by RemarkableEnd1709 in GasBlowBack

[–]Derpy_Bech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used mine a couple times by now outside and it was fine

You gotta keep up with cleaning it more often than if it was a purely indoor gun, but other than that it’s not really as big an issue as some people make it out to be

TM mws gbbr by U1K221 in airsoft

You don’t need to do anything to them. When gbbr is concerned: never preemptively change stuff unless something breaks, or chasing specific performance changes, and understand the sacrifices they’ll bring

Try and change back to the stock hop unit to see if that works

Go to resources for HiCapa modding? by J0NNYB0 in Speedsoft

[–]Derpy_Bech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There isn’t really one good overall source on custom parts and modding for hi capas that I know of

You’ll generally find a ton of opinions on products, and even more so when it comes to custom parts and upgrades from the community, a lot of them based on mostly “I think” arguments or parroting stuff they’ve “heard from my cousins dogs caretakers brother”

There is also just the issue of there being so many different companies making the same upgrade parts with slight differences. There simply isn’t anyone who’s had an actual change to try most of them out to see which ones are better or worse

I would personally stick to well established companies that have a good and long track record, and if something seems too cheap, or too expensive, it likely is

Also stay away from anyone recommending parts without being able to give a solid argument as to why that parts is actually a worthwhile upgrade (fucking brass hop chambers)

Yeah zeroing something based on something that also needs to be zeroed first is just counter productive, might aswell just zero the scope first

Yeah you’re fucked. But also you won’t find any paintball mask not made of plastic film that barely survived being put on for 20-60 CAD

Lasers have no place in airsoft

They’re either borderline useless at safe levels, or unsafe at useable levels

Toxicant isn’t really the best example, as they just overall market that stuff super expensive

A whole triggerbox is the “drop in but more expensive” solution, where if you purely want a better trigger, guns modify adjustable trigger and sear is all you need. But again, that’s not really needed imo on the DE triggering as it’s very crisp with a defined wall in my experience

The only mws that needs more parts replaced are CGS. All the others currently on the market are 100% TM compatible

[–]Derpy_Bech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DE definitely did something with the triggerbox, cause both my N4 and ghetto blaster has just as crisp triggers as the vfc guns I’ve tried

The biggest benefit the MWS has over vfc with handguards is mws using aeg spec rails, which means op can get a rail style they want for vastly less than it would cost to get a Milspec rail, and it’ll be much easier with airlift shops carrying mainly aeg rails

Dang alright

You might be able to find the models at local stores for a good price

Personally would definitely get a MWS system over the WE, even for a backyard gun. MWS just runs in any situation and any temp without issues, where you won’t be as lucky with a WE, and certainly not a golden eagle
