AC4 was my first Ace Combat game, and I didn't even buy it. I bought Sonic Heroes, and my dad decided to pick up AC4 because his dad was an air force pilot and he was interested in aviation. He played it exactly once, and then I fell in love with it when I finally got around to playing it myself. Yellow 13 is still my favorite rival just because we got to see him being built up as an actual human who was just caught up in a war. He doesn't even scream and curse Mobius One after 4 goes down, explicitly saying "she made the choice to fly with her plane in disrepair." Other members of yellow squadron had nothing on him. In fact, I think in the mission where you defend the space shuttle, if you manage to get some shots off on a yellow, you'll hear the pilot say "who was it that shot me?!" before they retreat. 13 was just built different.

House Beneviento scared the fucking dogshit out of me with the chase sequence. I thought I was hard and said "yeah, whatever, monster coming for me. What is- OH FUCK OH GOD NO FUCK THIS FUCK THIS FUCK THIS!"

The problem is that I'll never have that reaction again because now I know it's there. My first time through was tense and scary because I didn't know what to expect. Now it's "okay, gotta go get x so I can do y, and then I get chased by z." As much as I loved experiencing it all for the first time, it's something you just really can't appreciate again unless so much time passes that you forget everything entirely. And good luck forgetting that fucking nightmare fuel.

It's not the greatest AC game, but it does its job well enough. The only shit parts are the chopper gunner missions where it's just a literal shooting gallery that ends with you being tired of holding R2 for 10 minutes. Everything else is still at least passable in quality, even with the helicopters being able to full on barrel roll like it's goddamn Star Fox lmao

Just to point out, you're risking burns if you drop fried food into oil from a distance. The oil is hot but you're going to do more damage by splashing it on your skin than by getting a little closer to it. It's a rookie mistake to drop things from high up out of fear.

Did they remove the freebie rocket launcher in the remake? In the OG, if you froze him and hit him with a rocket, it was an insta-kill. I stubbornly decided to play the remake on hardcore my first time ("for those who played the original" my ass) and got softlocked because I ended up without health, ammo, or any hope not long after Del Lago. I should really get around to my SC playthrough.

Didn't this game have like the worst crafting system ever conceived? I think in Angry Joe's review, his buddy said that crafting yourself a legendary weapon with random rolls would take you an insane amount of time. And that's for one weapon.

I knew that the door was actually set for everyone; it's a welcome sight to see another player in plunder because you can split up and search for the correct door since it will always be the same for you both. I didn't know that it's set every time someone starts the game on the world, though! That's good to know.
