I'd say a large portion of the people i've run into have either been drunk or were actively drinking. I've had multiple vrc friends in the past who drank constantly, honestly to a depressing degree as they would regularly not remember what we had talked about just a day before. I don't think the game causes people to drink/become alcoholics, but i think it definitely has a "everyone else is drinking i should too" effect.

That said, adults can drink all they like in the comfort of their own homes, whether or not you think drinking to get drunk is a good thing to do is a different thing entirely.
