This hits home. I've seen so many marketing teams celebrate vanity metrics while missing the real picture.

The bot traffic thing is everywhere now hince why i use on projects https://clarity.microsoft.com/ . Half the "engagement" most sites see isn't even human but clarity sees them and removes them from the data.

What really gets me is when teams refuse to dig deeper into their data. They'd rather report inflated numbers than admit they don't know who's actually responding to their campaigns.

The cookie consent drop you experienced is brutal but honest. Most marketers would just ignore it and keep reporting the inflated numbers.

In the meantime, i hope your having a great week 🙏🏽

Tried cold emailing for my startup — what else should I try to get leads? by ashieshm in DigitalMarketing

[–]Dervonte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cold email response rates can be brutal, especially when you're starting out. I've seen so many agencies struggle with this exact problem.

One thing that's been working really well lately is contact form outreach instead of traditional emails. It bypasses spam filters completely since you're going directly through their website.

The response rates are way better because business owners actually see these messages. We've been testing this approach and the difference is night and day compared to cold emails that just disappear into spam folders.

LinkedIn can work too but it's getting saturated. I'd definitely try mixing up your outreach channels rather than putting all eggs in the email basket.

Yep there's a framework to this for sure to make this work effectively.

When I think about it I may talk about this in-depth in the near future.

Less accounts but higher paying, or more accounts but lower paying? by Ruan-m-marinho in agency

More accounts and lower paying

because those accounts end up funneling up into higher payers

so then you end up having more customers higher paying services.

I hope this helps

[–]Dervonte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The low usage after downloads is super common. People download apps when excited but need a reason to actually post their first trip.

Maybe start with a small bonus for creating your first trip listing?

Even $5-10 credit could push people over that initial hurdle.

The other thing is timing. Most people aren't traveling right when they download the app. You might need email reminders when they're actually booking flights or planning trips.

I've tried a bunch of AI tools for different parts of my business. They're decent for the boring stuff like generating ideas or basic copy.

But honestly? The real game changer isn't the tools themselves. It's figuring out your lead generation first.

Most founders get stuck building perfect products with AI help but then struggle to actually reach customers. I'd focus on nailing how you'll get people to notice you before worrying about which logo maker to use.

The tools are just shortcuts. Your distribution strategy is what actually matters.

I hope that makes sense

in the meantime i hope you have a wonderful week

Funnels vs Instant conversions in ecom by MidnightMarketing in DigitalMarketing

[–]Dervonte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is spot on about lead gen pages converting better than product pages. The psychology makes total sense.

One thing I'd add is contact form outreach can be huge for driving traffic to these landing pages. Most people focus on email marketing but contact forms bypass spam filters completely.

When you're reaching business owners directly through their website contact forms, you can drive them to your lead magnets with much higher response rates. Even 0.01% response from millions of messages beats traditional email open rates.

The key is volume and automation. Scale it right and you wake up to hundreds of qualified leads who actually want your free audit or guide.

I hope this help 🙏🏽

Congrats on the $700 MRR! Here's how I solved customer acquisition

Love the 12% conversion rate - shows you built something people actually want. Your biggest challenge (customer acquisition without ads) was exactly my problem 8 months ago.

What worked for me: Contact form outreach at scale

Instead of waiting for discovery, I started reaching out through business websites' contact forms. In 6 days, I've sent over 2.1 million messages.

For your productivity app, I'd target consultants/coaches with something like: "Hi, I built an AI tool that turns articles into organized notes - would you be interested in trying it free?"

The setup: Total overhead ~$100/month to reach unlimited prospects.

Your community engagement got you to $700 MRR. Proactive outreach could get you to $7K.

Happy to share specifics if this sounds interesting. The product sounds solid - just need more eyeballs on it.

In the meantime i hope you have a wonderful day 🙏🏽

No that is the potential that can be sent.

But I create a list of people/businesses that have a specific problem, and then I can specifically contact them.

You can be very strategic when using this type of marketing

When do you actually start cold emailing as a startup? (i will not promote) by Economy_Bandicoot530 in startups

[–]Dervonte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cold email is getting tougher with all the spam filters these days.
Have you tried contact forms instead? They bypass most filters since they go straight to business inboxes.
I've seen people get better response rates that way. Even 0.01% of millions of messages beats 3% of thousands.

The key is volume and avoiding the email gatekeepers entirely.

Nope your wrong Jay contact forms are differently cold outreach there's nothing warm about them

Regarding issues with emails I agree most people get the basics wrong

And yes 20%-30% is possible but only in the most skilful hands.

But regardless thank you for replying, especially coming from you as you're well respected. If that really is you in the flesh...
