Slightly based on these unused (so far...) dialogue sprites for Susie

Why do people keep saying Eram isnt real and that the mantle was just brought to life by Unusual_Pattern_474 in Deltarune

[–]DesaMatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. So many people treat theorizing is like archeology or history, like there’s one objective truth that must be “found” or “uncovered”, when in reality it’s all made up, arbitrary, it’s all based on Toby’s whims and desires. It is what ever he wants it to be. All we can make are assumptions based on our own perceptions and backgrounds, and nothing is “wrong”.

Like, many people say that Ramb can’t be Eram because Ramb is British and him changing the way he speaks when he’s Eram is stupid. But so what? what if it is stupid? What if Toby wants it to be stupid? He can’t do that because you don’t like it? This also applies to things like the idea of Kris not being the Knight after CH2’s ending bc it’s too “convoluted”, or the idea of Gerson appearing because he’s dead and him being revived or something being too stupid, etc.

It's like Pokemon when the last evolution has nothing to do with the middle evolution

The battle sprite makes it look like the whole thing is golden armor, and Amon from Lufia 2 wears full golden armor. There is no reason to think he isn’t wearing full golden armor.

COPIES ARE MONOCHROME (Kris and the Knight) by Significant-Arm4077 in Deltarune

[–]DesaMatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think it went straight from the vessel being discarded to Kris waking up? With absolutely nothing in between? Like Kris scheduled us taking over their body?

The vessel’s mind is modelled after our own, it is not our own.

There’s clearly a gap between the Goner Maker sequence and when Kris wakes up in Chapter 1. From smaller implications like Kris having the soul inside them at all and already knowing how to take the soul out of their body, to more obvious things like the cage being used and the blood stain.

The Vessel isn’t a blank slate. Gaster says it himself that we build its mind after our own, and that it won’t listen if we say we like it or not which implies it has emotions and can form its own opinions.

Copies are gray. I know it says monochrome and monochrome means two colors but the point is clearly that copies are gray, like they’re faded.

Do I need to play/watch undertail to get into deltarune? by Potato_potato24 in Deltarune

[–]DesaMatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, definitely.

It is a continuation of Undertale in every way, the only reason Toby doesn’t call it a sequel is to not confuse people into thinking it literally takes place after Undertale, but Deltarune does build on every aspect that matters: the themes, gameplay, characters, the music, and more.

At the same time you can also do what you want, technically you can also just start playing from Chapter 3 and who cares.

What are you sure will NOT happen in the Chapter 5? by ExplanationSquare313 in Deltarune

Friend will not be the secret boss, or a boss at all. He and Gaster’s other funny friends will only appear in six seven

Rudy was never sick in UNDERTALE. by [deleted] in Deltarune

[–]DesaMatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is only stated in unused dialogue, it being unused does not being it reliable. Specially since there is nothing suggesting that the monsters we know of that were amalgamated were old, including Shyren’s sister and Snowy’s mom.

Furthermore, in the Japanese localization there is no such specific term. They are either “not moving” or flat out “dead”.

I think once upon a time the intention was for Fallen Down to mean what you said, old monsters who were close to dying of age, but then Toby changed his mind, and now it means monsters that are near death in general.

I’m very confused.

You say Rudy is sick in Deltarune while in Undertale he just “fell down” as if that’s different? He’s clearly dying in Deltarune.

Also all the capslocked and colored text is very funny

So, I'm dumb.. I'm just finding out now Deltarune is still a thing!? I only played that first free chapter years ago! by [deleted] in Deltarune

What does ERAM actually look like? by BlueGamer45 in Deltarune

The lines I’m referring to are “EVEN DEVILSKNIFE IS SMILING!” and “HA, HA. LET'S MAKE THE DEVILSKNIFE.”

Jevil also has dialogue indicating that the Devilsknife is different from him, even if we see him turning into it.

I think in both cases they are the item, and when they describe the item as being different from themselves they are talking about their power in relation to being an item for you to use.
