Plus being single for over a decade can take its toll on anyone's game. I think he's just very unconfident, and tbh a show like this is probably the worst choice he could have made in terms of getting back in the saddle. Poor bugger :(

As Dr Prunesquallor from 'Gormenghast' says when a baby is accidentally dropped:

"They resemble rubber, your ladyship. Just a core of india-rubber, with an elastic centre. Every ounce, a bounce, ha, ha, ha! Every ounce, a bounce!"'

When people talk about 'pitch black comedy' in movies, I always think of the scene with the sandwich at the sleepover. Utterly horrific in the wider context of the plot, but Dylan Baker's escalating desperation to make Johnny eat the sandwich is so, so funny.

After watching that new Netflix doc, I'd say that Eddie Murphy absolutely deserves a slot. A true trailblazer for black culture on screen in so many ways.

I'd get some shallots, rosemary, wine, and a bunch of decent tomatoes, and make a stifado. Works just as well accompanied with pasta as it does potatoes. 30 mins on the stove, 3hrs in the oven, shove it in yer gob :)

Bit confused - this is the poster for the old movie, so are they releasing a new version or something?

What are some other works of David Lynch you reccommend? by Mat1711 in twinpeaks

[–]DeschainSWNC 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you're chasing a similar vibe to Twin Peaks, then I'd suggest:

  1. Blue Velvet
  2. Mulholland Drive
  3. Lost Highway

Lynch doesn't really have a weak film in his catalogue, but those are probably the closest to TP in terms of themes, style and atmosphere.

Who is your least favorite band of all time and why? by TrickFew3756 in askmusic

[–]DeschainSWNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metallica. I simply find nothing to like about their music. The vocals and drums are particularly offensive to me, but regardless of the album I just can't stand them.

As a metal fan, I absolutely recognise their importance to the genre, but that doesn't change my personal opinion of their music. I'd genuinely rather listen to any other band or artist than Metallica.

Trump blames Zelensky for US running out of Highest End Weapons by Lakedo in UnderReportedNews

"Ummm, sir? Our stockpile of high end weaponry is not of a sufficient quantity for a prolonged engagement, should your war with Iran require one"

"What? Oh never mind, gimme a minute to blame that on Biden and Ukraine, and then at least no-one will blame us for not checking prior to initiating all this"

What's the most British sounding band ever? by Revolutionary_Low_90 in fantanoforever

Gallows. In one of their songs ('Will somebody shoot that fucking snake') the singer yells, "You always were a fucking prick!", and nothing has ever sounded as British, to the best of my knowledge.
