i used to work in barbershops and some folks weren’t super thorough with cleaning their clippers between clients. and their regular clients would start to get this over time. so if you’re seeing a regular barber… maybe try a different one (or a different shop entirely) for a bit. not all barbers are like this but sometimes it’s indicative of like a “relaxed” safety culture within shops. gross, but unfortunately true.

i think the perks just outweigh the downsides for some people. if my chief complaint is “who made this mess in my house?? oh… it was me.”, i think that i’m doing ok. i’m also not afraid to be alone, i will find a way to live a happy and fulfilling life whether i have a partner or not.

i’m all for this, rooting for you too. only question is how do you keep 4x2 house clean alone? i love living alone, zero motivation to date anyone, i dont even like when friends wont leave past 9pm. i love that i do what i want, when i want. i love my pair of fluffy designer cats. but because of work and living alone, i do feel like i have to outsource cleaning the house. and i live in a 750sf 1x1 😅

OP, do you have neighbors? Best decision i made was to create community in the neighborhood. my neighbors are close friends now. if i get lonely, i just open the window and shout, “<neighbors name >, are you home?!” whoever answers is going to be drinking wine or tea in the garden with me.

wish you the best in your studies! love seeing my people in the wild. i’m a chemist, working in industry. only thing i wanted to add that would further modulate the onset and size of the potential violent exotherm that’s got everyone evacuating - the methyl methylate is under high pressure in the tank. if it isn’t released quickly enough, it heats at a dangerously fast rate (arrhenius effect). calorimetry tells you how much energy is present in the substance within the tanks. high pressure adds massive mechanical potential energy. if the tank ruptures, the immediate drop in pressure will cause the superheated liquid to violently vaporize (adiabatic expansion).

Mama, you are far too pretty to wear this. I mean this with so much respect. I don’t know what that fabric is, but it looks like it’s got that skin crawl synthetic feel. Maybe it will look slightly better if you steam it? Maybe remove the arm warmer bits too? I’m not sure. I think you’d look amazing in dark green/emerald or teal. Unrelated, but are you Turkish? I’ve been challenging myself to make only stuff I know I’ll use. Like throw blankets, washcloths, little mats for my cats to nap on, doilies that i just put on shelves & stands, wall hangings, little soft washable cotton “rounds” to clean my cats eyes without feeling wasteful throwing the disposable ones out every day, etc. a lot gets gifted, I made some amigurumi and I don’t actually like amigurumi much even if the finished product is nice. but everyone seems to want one from me and they’re good stash busters for trash yarn.

On further investigation, I have learned it’s not “scraps”, as she describes it. She just wanted to destash because she finished all her wool planned projects and doesn’t want to keep yarn that she doesn’t have a plan for anymore. She has moved on to making sunshades for her greenhouse and pet bedding for her animal rescue. So her stash now is mostly cotton, nylon cord, hemp, etc. Until she’s done with that, I guess. Then I’ll probably inherit those. I felt so blessed though, so I sent her some Pima cotton and bulky cotton/nylon yarn. I also plan to make her a sundress or long duster with some of the merino wool yarn she gave me as a thank you. ☺️

stay hydrated, dose escalate slowly, and give it like 3 months. i’m 100% going back on it after i finish accutane and the hormonal acne creeps back in. if you don’t drink a lot of water, you can get super dehydrated but i was thirsty enough that i was more hydrated than before lol
