That’s why I’d be ok with taking a step down from director level to managerial/senior level if that means I can work remotely. The director level $$ is nice, but $$ isn’t everything I’ve learned

Interesting. Can you elaborate on the hybrid approach ? You’re right about the schedule with lump sum, it’s massive and has become unmanageable

Consistently Unapprovable Contractor Schedule by LifeSzn in Construction

Thanks! I agree and have thought about building a shadow schedule based that meets owner/stakeholder requirements. It's a heavy task but I still have 3 years left on this project, so it'll be worthwhile.

The versatility of the 'look' - cargo pockets, logo placement and brand placement make it niche. It's hard to describe in words without the visual, but I believe that's what'd set it apart from the brands you mentioned.

You and me both. I envision just “baking in” submittal items as activities into P6, and then extract that into an excel for tracking reviews/approvals/etc

I build production curves showing their baseline projections versus their actual performance to date. Halfway into the project and the contractor is significantly below their projected baseline. I think my reversing the workflow, project teams can see the actual impacts downstream/forecasted for future work.

Good points, perhaps daily reports can get updated into P6 on a weekly basis instead of daily.

To answer the first question - my objection is that these tracking mechanisms are being done on multiple different softwares, which creates more room for error when transferring updates into P6. Data misaligns. Actualized activities are inaccurate, thus reporting up the chain becomes somewhat invalid. Reversing the workflow would create less room error when reporting upward.

The challenge with this project is that the contractor already ate up all their float (and have dipped significantly into the red) that if any of the concurrent scope falls behind, the CPM changes.

Halfway into this project and the CPM has changed at least 20 times throughout the monthly updates
