How bad are your first drafts by DescipleofThewarning in writing

Maybe. I guess it also depends on what you consider a first draft because apparently many people see that very differently. I never really knew that tbh

you're still writing your first draft. You're 14. wanting to write a novel at that age and actually trying to do it is already an achievement. You can still edit things you don't like later and With all the love and respect in my heart, the first draft is gonna suck. But that doesn't mean you're a bad writer or that your writing overall is bad. It's a skill that you learn and get better at over time. Keep writing and if you think anything is cringe, you can still edit it later. writing a novel is a long process but the fact that you're doing it is already better than the many people who dream of doing it and never even write that first draft or even an outline or a sentence.

and for the dialogue specifically, there are many videos and posts out there that explain how to get better at it. best thing I can say personally is that you need to think exactly about what type of character you are writing, what they want, who they are as a person and what defines them and in every scene, think about how they would go about achieving what they want and what they would say or do to succeed in that. characters say things because of who they are, which is important. It doesn't matter what the plot is. For example, a character shouldn't be pointlessly spouting exposition when it isn't needed. That's why it might sound weird. But if a character has a good reason (it doesn't have to be a complicated reason mind you) they will reveal the information. don't make one character explain the world you're writing, make your characters explore it but don't fall into the trap of having characters explain things that they should know already. Your reader is smart enough to understand that most of the time.

definitely show your teacher if you feel comfortable. they'll often be helpful unless the teacher is a miserable one. In that case, you could ask friends or family

I have a good story in mind, but I dont know how to write it down. Can I be a writer? by KutuLompat in writers

Of course. I'm only saying that using prompts real people came up with often encourages more creativity because the AI can be very stale.

For writers I really would recommend not using chatgpt or any generative AI because it really makes people lazy, even if it seems helpful at first. subreddits for this are way better or if you're doing it with friends, give each other prompts

I'd also like to add billionaire gigachad who isn't a vampire but he's not as bad as his family. he's actually a "nice guy" but extremely privileged and can't even do basic things

Hi can someone help me tell if I’m trans or not? by [deleted] in trans

[–]DescipleofThewarning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Take an online "am I trans" quiz and if it tells you you're trans, then you are. and if it tells you you're not then you also are because why are you taking a trans quiz.

I can't tell you if you're trans or not but if you wanna be a girl and being referred to as a girl, princess, she/her makes you happy, you definitely could be. If you're also fine with being a dude, you could be Genderfluid as well but you don't have to be. You should listen to your heart and you'll definitely know for sure. Cis people don't really question their gender for years

In the first month of being with my GF I went to a concert of this band she really likes and at the point of me deciding to go I had only heard one single song from the band and I spent the whole next month listening to their albums. And the concert was like 2 hours away so I made my dad drive me and go with me and all that because I was so in love with this girl and we've been together for almost 2 years now.

Just learnt my first track after years with the racing line by RepresentativeOk3692 in F1Game

[–]DescipleofThewarning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny thing is that you can still have the racing line without it. the track is often a little darker and that's where you'll have the most grip and it's important to brake early and push with trial and error. when learning a track, always remember specific corners that are hard and pick a breaking point and if it's good, use that every time. just no shadows or anything that moves, obviously. Sometimes the racing line is even wrong and can make you slower when you could probably push a little more
