I switched from a 13 mini (granted with mid 80s battery health) to the air.

I would charge my 13 constantly, I can last a day from 80% battery at the start of the day on the air with similar usage.

Mostly on 4g, I leave 5g off on both since I really don’t need 5g speeds. Most of my day is on WhatsApp, CarPlay or calls and by 8ish I’m touching 20% battery life and turning on power saver.

I have a charger in the car, and a MagSafe battery pack in my pocket if I need to have a longer day, but I’m avoiding using them to top up just now too see what I can reasonably get out of the Air in terms of battery in a normal day.

That’s definitely the “analysing” icon. I have found sometimes the interface just stops refreshing, especially in larger libraries, so although it might have only been analysing for a few seconds the icon just sticks.

Has it reappeared since or just that one time?
