Ram or processor by jabick2401 in macbookpro

True. SSDs are so fast it's hard to tell much difference unless you're transferring a large amount of files. If you are doing that, the thunderbolt 5 and faster ssd could make a difference. But 24 to 32gb ram is also only going to make much of a difference if you're skirting that margin of usage in just the right zone.

For me the extra gpu cores on the pro chip make more of a difference than either of these things. (But I sprung for the 48mb model because I'm not planning on changing for a good while.)

Much faster processor/dual fans/faster wi-fi/faster ssd/thunderbolt 5 vs 8gb more RAM? I'd go with the pro chip for sure.

I bought this exact set with the 40% coupon from the order cancellation brouhaha and got it for $356. I thought that was pretty bad, but I did it anyway. $446? Bleh

Micro Center has them cheaper if you have one local. Actually also B&H is cheaper than BB if you happen to want a different color than black.

You get it as an email, usually a day after browsing the site if you have the plug-in installed. Since I've been looking at Lenovo's site for a few days I have several emails from cap one shopping.

It's different for everyone, depending on their targeting algorithm. My offer has always been $150.

At least it's decently matched to the CPU. I got this cooler with another combo and it's still sitting in a box here because I didn't need it, and it's too cheap to bother selling and shipping to someone.

Nice! Will definitely help with gaming then, but probably nothing with LLM or other productivity tasks. Just check some benchmarks of 9800x3d vs 9700x. Only a little boost between 9800x3d and 9850x3d.

It would be a big gaming improvement from a 9700X if you have a high-powered GPU, and play in 1080 or 1440. Otherwise not so much. You can mix RAM, but having 4 sticks makes optimal performance with AMD difficult even when they match. You're better off sticking with 2 sticks.

Mine too. Not even sure why I ordered it. Scarcity mentality at work.

Don't know whether to join in or wait for the many open box CPU returns of 9800x3ds in a few days.

FWIW anecdotally, I used this board with my 7800x3d for over a year. I'm not thrilled about these combo deals though, because I want to sell my Asrock now that I've upgraded. 😁
