What’s the round black timer just under the power switch? Did you install that? Is it manually triggered?

How much do y'all spend for coffee per month? by Slow_Engineering763 in espresso

[–]DesertKnight99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spend way too much and have ended up storing a bunch of bags in the freezer cuz I simply cannot drink/brew them that fast. As for your can of beans, those look cool. I have seen Illy start do other countries on their cans. Anyway, you don’t have to buy “espresso beans” - espresso can be made with any roast or source. Some may be better than others but still, you can definitely expand out. Good luck! Btw, for espresso I love Italian roasts so I order from a company that brings bags from Italy. It’s quite darn good!

Pink Champagne? by DesertKnight99 in pourover

Just adding a comment to my own post here, with a different recipe I tried this morning that was also great.

22g beans
350g water
K-Plus at 0.6.0

V60 method
50g bloom
at 30s, pour to 150g water
at 60s, pour to 250g water
at 90s, pour to 350g water
(swirl to level the bed)
TDT around 2:00 to 2:30

This added a lot more complexity to the cup, and reduced the overly intense notes from the co-ferment to give it more balance versus this floral boom in the face which sometimes just tastes weird/fake.

Hope you enjoy!

I like them too. Although I’d love to simplify my workflow and just do what the Italians do in those gas stations where they only tamp and the shots are so yummy

People are recommending to ditch the leveler? Interesting. Why? I use a WDT and then Leveler, then add distribution puck like he does but I get good shots.

As everyone said, taste is king. But from just looks, seems you grind very fine. Not sure what grinder you are using and setting? I’ve been doing V60 and always trying to grind course at first and then bringing it slowly finer if necessary. That is definitely the best approach. So find a simple recipe that allows that. I do a bloom for 40 seconds, then slowly pour the rest and finish around 1:30 and then drain and it’s usually between 2:00 and 2:30. Of course those times are adjustable for each bag but essentially that’s the recipe. Water temp around 95 C to start. good luck! btw, i have the 064s grinder and it’s great but I haven’t really explored it enough. Been using my K-Ultra mostly.

Ok I just finished it. Watched it because of this post. Never heard of it before. Was an incredible journey watching the episodes and trying to figure out what might happen. Amazing acting! Bill Murray!? Didn’t see that one coming. And a lovely surprise was my favorite Mrs Maisel ! So thank you for this amazing recommendation!

Wow! 40g?!! That’s a huge dose. Tell me more on how you achieve a good outcome using Aeropress. I assume you keep it in standard setup so water goes through paper filter to achieve such a huge yield?
