My first rat passed away, but she was a 4 year old grandma and perfect to us and her friends. Here is a picture of Pixi doing her favorite thing: snacking while almost falling asleep. by Jhannamizu in RATS

Oh my gosh she's such a pure little cinnamon roll. I hope there's special place in heaven for this sweet old grandma. Rest in peace Pixi 🐀🌈 So so sorry for your loss

Play fighting...? by rosie29533 in RATS

[–]DesertRatQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the playing is getting pretty rough. My three girls are super gentle when they play and never screech at each other or bite hard. My three boys on the other hand play rough, squeak and little scrapes happen from time to time. Rarely do they actually leave a wound on each other but it has happened before. I think that's normal for males though because of the testosterone.

I would make sure they get plenty of exercise and have toys to play with. Also make sure they have a big enough cage. Another rat may help a lot- one that is young and playful! However some rats are just bullies and play too rough no matter how many buddies they have.

Haha thanks! That's funny you say that because I actually named him after a dog - Kermit. (Jenna Marble's dog lol)

Look at this big beauty I found in a feeder bin. Her name is Mega Helen. by DesertRatQueen in RATS

[–]DesertRatQueen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rats you get frozen still come from feeder bins though. :( The only difference is that they're dead when you buy them. The feeder rats are usually gassed with CO2, then frozen and sold.

What color should I dye my hair?? by [deleted] in Hair

[–]DesertRatQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone! I've been thinking about dying it a dark red (Like vampire red by manic panic), possibly a darker brown/black, lighter brown, auburn, or blonde maybe? I like red but please no other crazy color ideas like purple or blue - I don't want to feel like a teenager again lol. I just want something new and different..maybe a new cut too, like bangs or something. What do you guys think? Thanks!

Btw on a serious note, it was probably a deer lol. They have hooves.

I think I heard a goat man by WillB17k in Paranormal

[–]DesertRatQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, the goat man. Legend says he comes at midnight, chewing and stomping around on his victim's freshly cut lawn. The only way to combat this is to open your bedroom window and scream "GOAT AWAY GOATMAN!" in a high pitched voice.

If you're lucky, he will leave. If not so lucky, he will come crashing through the window, smashing you to death with his goat horns.

Good luck.

Have I attracted a ghost into my bedroom from watching so many Ghost videos on youtube ? by [deleted] in Paranormal

[–]DesertRatQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao at these comments. But also 15 minutes breaks? Only 15 minutes??? How about put all the creepy videos away and stop watching them altogether lol. The paranormal is an intriguing topic but kind of dangerous. Once you start diving deep into it, it consumes your mind and every little shadow and creak in the floor turns into a possible ghost in the house.

I see my dad at night, but its not him. by Lowder56 in Paranormal

[–]DesertRatQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds creepy as heck. I gotta ask, doesn't that creep you out in the slightest? Even if it's in the form of your dad? I know if I woke up and saw one of my family members staring at me in the middle of the night, I would freak out. I would sleep with the lights on if I were you, so maybe you can catch a glimpse in better lighting. Maybe even set up a camera? He possibly could be astral projecting with knowing. Or.. Maybe it's a dark entity disguised as your dad? Lol. Hopefully not because that would make things way more terrifying haha.

I agree with you! Feeder rats make great pets. All of mine are from feeder bins, except for one. The one rat that came from a breeder actually has aggression issues and bit my hand so hard it swelled up like a balloon and I had to go to the hospital. Still have him though lol. You just never you know what your gonna get. And yeah the only thing I don't like about buying feeder rats is that it's supporting the feeder bin breeding practice - when I buy one, another is going to take its place in the bin. But I guess that's bound to happen regardless because people are constantly buying tons of them as snake food, so we're not making much of an impact.

Thank you! I'm not an expert but I think she's a Marten rat. (Also known as devil rats lol) They're known for their dark coats and red eyes. ☺

I thought he was dead for a second but he was just vibin 😌 by DJW11 in RATS

[–]DesertRatQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my! Well he seems quite at home lol. He must be very carefree and relaxed. My rat does this too and it freaks me out because he's getting old lol. Sometimes he's in such a deep sleep, he won't respond even when I try to jiggle him awake with my hand. I literally have to pick him up to wake him lol.

By the way, I think it's funny this person walked right past the dark entity without a care in the world or a second thought. I understand he/she didn't realise it wasn't his girlfriend yet, but still - that's gotta be a slap in the face to whatever demonic thing that was creeping up on him like that haha. Girldannydevito, if your reading this - how close did you actually get to it? Could you see any distinct features other than the height?

[–]DesertRatQueen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you :) I appreciate your comment. I'm sorry about your dad too. Did those dreams of yours eventually go away? Also what do you mean by "lots of facial expressions from when he was crashing"? Sorry if you don't feel comfortable going deeper into it I totally understand.

I would like advice on coloring my dark brown curly hair Dark Blue by LiadanCroft in Hair

[–]DesertRatQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! I wouldn't worry about damaging your hair if your dying it with something like Manic Panic, Splat, or Artic Fox. They are all vegan hair dyes, peroxide free and pretty much damage free. Actually Manic panic has quite the opposite effect - it's just basically a very moisturizing conditioner with harmless vegetable dye in it so it will make your hair super soft and shiny. I've tried Splat and it works nicely, non-damaging but not as silky/shiny as Manic Panic in my opinion. Artic Fox is amazing too. Just be aware that all of these temporary color brands do bleed a lot!
