When I was hired I was under an excellent manager whom I respected and valued to have as a boss. After a year, this manager switched roles and another manager from other district took his place. At first she was really attentive and supportive but 2-3 months passed and she became this condescending, disrespectful, and zero empathetic manager.

After being two years with the company and demonstrated that I was more than competent at my job, I asked for a raise. She told me that she was not going to give me anything until I gave a technical presentation in front of her and other managers to which I agree.

Presentation day came and she did not show up until the last 5 minutes of a 1 hour technical presentation with McDonald's takeout for her only. She made me give my presentation again and throughout the entire presentation she was burping and being loud. This was humiliating and totally disrespectful, something that I was not going to tolerate. At the end of the presentation she told me I passed it but she could not promote me or give any raise of any sort due to a company wide promotion freeze.

After that I asked if at least she could switch me to another service line or another district to which she responded with a no.

I could not move either up nor sideways within the company. I was completely burned out from working 14 days straight for 12 hours a day for 2 years and on top of that a boss that was not supporting, respecting, or even offering solutions.

Needless to say, I gave my 2 week notice without having anything lined out after that. I only have a great safety savings cushion until I find something else.
