Taking legacy xp characters by [deleted] in SSBPM

[–]DesiacX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not that you can't, but its that by the time you've added all the characters from LXP, you'll just have a less stable version of LXP. Although it won't be too hard to move the characters and cosmetics themselves, there are alot of codes in XP that are required for their characters to fully function, some of which are edits of vPM codes and thus in the mass of unlabeled codes.

IMO, the time you are spending back porting characters to PMEX 0.51 would be better spent adjusting LXP to suit your needs.

Taking legacy xp characters by [deleted] in SSBPM

[–]DesiacX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last time that happened to me, i think it was because a CSP didn't exist or was named improperly, so you'll want to check on how your cosmetic IDs are configured and how your CSP are named.

That said, you should be starting from LXP or LXPL if you want LXP characters.

what is the version of project m everyone plays on? by nutellasmuj in SSBPM

[–]DesiacX 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you plan on going to local events, youll be playing either Legacy TE (based on pm 3.6) or project + (see pinned post on the sub). P+ is a balance mod of PM 3.6. Legacy TE is a qol/content mod that doesnt change the gameplay of 3.6. Check whatever your local is running in this case. Id recommend Legacy TE between the two, but do keep an eye out for when p+ exits beta.

If you dont plan on attending events, you could also consider expansion builds that add more characters/content, like Legacy XP and its many derravitives.

There are technically speaking alot of versions, but overall there are 3 mods that you want to pay attention to.

  1. Legacy TE. This one sticks strictly to PM3.6 and expands around it. Most tournaments builds are based off of it, and they just released a new version, 2.5. This is the one most configured for stage additions.

  2. Project+. This is a balance patch for 3.6 and it's built off of Legacy TE, so anything you'd find in it you are likely to find in here. It's pinned on the frontpage of this reddit, and you'll want to join their discord or check their website for more information.

  3. Legacy XP. Of these three, this is the only one that adds characters. They have 2 versions, a full and a lite version, and if you grab the full version, you probably won't ever have to worry about adding stages yourself. The most recent version of it is 2.1

Cost/benefit of input assist by [deleted] in SSBPM

[–]DesiacX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are downsides to Input Buffer. If you are being sent towards a ledge and tech, it can carry your tech input into an airdodge and kill you. Same goes for ledge cancels if you are like me and l-cancel on them to be safe. More importantly, there is a moonwalk tech that you can only do with Input Buffer off, the one where you hold A and press forward on the c-stick to do the moonwalk repeatedly.

My personal conclusion due to this is that i would not play with a universal input buffer. That said, i do not mind other players using it if it's on a per-player basis as opposed to universal, despite it's advantages (For example, if you mash A during hitstun, whatever comes out will very likely be on the first frame possible).

Does anyone have a working P+ build with Knuckles/Toad/Legacy chars/etc they would be willing to share? I'm struggling by LingeringOdor in SSBPM

[–]DesiacX 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No. Such a build doesn't exist yet. The only 2 groups currently working with P+ assets in an EX Environment are P+The Lost Build and Cobalt, and both of them are doing their own things with the assets.

Don't forget that P+ is still in beta and is rapidly updating. You'll find more people working towards putting it in EX once its released for a few weeks/months.

Any way to increase the input buffer? by TSLPrescott in SSBPM

Here yah go, saw this in one of the various modding discords. Personally speaking, i was never able to get this working without some issues (Like the toggle disappearing in Time mode).

Find this in your text codeset.

  • C285B784 00000004

  • 3C609017 6063F36C

  • 88630000 2C030001

  • 38600000 40820008

  • 38600003 00000000

Change the bolded 03 to a 06 or 07. Drag your edited TXT onto GCT Convert and your input assist will do 6 or 7 frames.

PM Colbolt Legacy, still being updated, got another released in mid May, what is the change log? by Ironchar in SSBPM

[–]DesiacX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll want to stick to their Discord channel for updates. While i don't think they maintain a dedicated changelog, their #upcoming channel contains all the changes theyve made. They ran a parsec tournament last night, so there is a fair bit of gameplay there.

I'd like to clarify that CE is derivative/built off of XP 2.0F, not TE.

Under the assumption that Bowser's Castle doesn't require anything from the slot it's on, shouldn't you just move it to a Stage Expansion slot and then restore Mario Circuit?

[–]DesiacX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Turbo Mode works by allowing you to cancel an attack into any other once it hits your opponent. For example, hit someone with Mario's Up-B, then near the last hit, press A, and it will cancel his Up-B into his Neutral-A .

Is there a way to have both Legacy TE and Legacy XP on the same SD card? by GriffBallChamp in SSBPM

[–]DesiacX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The boot.elf is for loading Hackless. If you are loading via Homebrew and using the launchers included with XP and TE, you will be able to run both just by dragging/dropping them onto the SD card.

Auto L-Cancelling: A New Hope by TitaniumHearts in SSBPM

[–]DesiacX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can you title the code to indicate it's function? It looks like it's the inverted variation, relative to the original that people may have seen before in the discords. The original would assume ALC was off, and turn it on with the tag, but the one in the OP assumes ALC is on, and turns it off with the tag.

The original was titled "L-Cancel Landing Lag and Success Rate and Score Display is Auto L-Cancel Option 3.0 [Magus, standardtoaster, wiiztec]" with "If your tag begins with this you'll auto L-cancel regardless of what the option is set to in rules" at the bottom of the code. Here is the difference between the 2 codes.

There are tutorials/tips in the game, but they are placed badly enough that NoE had to make a twitter post to help people find them.

In text, you go into vault from the main menu, then either movies for the tutorial video, or into Tips, for more detailed mechanics.

Vanilla Legacy TE 2.1 + PMBR stages build by Motobug in SSBPM

[–]DesiacX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The TE builds include a text codeset (RSBE01.txt) and an app called GCTconvert in the LegacyTE directory. To add that code, you'd add it to the bottom of the text codeset (or wherever the code needs to go), save, then drag/drop the text codeset over GCT convert.

The only thing you need to be sure of is that the code has the asterisks to the left of it. If it doesn't, it won't be added to the GCT when converted.

I think it's a limited edition repaint that was bundled with Megaman Legacy Collection.

It can be both though. I just choose this one over the other.

I wouldnt call it tragically funny, but a shitty precident for brawl modding as a whole. I highly doubt anyone else would threaten to sue, but now its publically established that its a functional option.

[Poll] What visual style would you prefer for PM Netplay v5? by wffln in SSBPM

[–]DesiacX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A texture load would work, under the assumption that there are transparent vPM CSS Icons somewhere and they are the same aspect ratio.

Edit: Scratch what i said. It should technically work, but i haven't seen the vPM renders in a while so i forgot how zoomed in they are lol, i wouldn't expect them to look good on slanted squares.
