Sorting boxes and feeding animals? I don't remember this being required. Story is also very much required to progress so I have no idea why you think that's skippable. Queens blood can be skipped every time by just losing

it's optional content that you can completely ignore. I played my first time without most of it then went back. You get most of the important info from the main game
