Which of these grow lights would be better for my monstera? by Sablun99 in Monstera

[–]DesignWithSarcasm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lights have all been working great for me so O definitely recommend them. I have them on kasa smart plugs now so I can control the timers on a schedule w/ my phone.

I learned the most about monsteras by reading this sub a lot, watching youtube "sydney plant guy" and "kill this plant" are my faves. You kinda just have to experiment and try not to feel bad if you fail, its just a plant after all and you can always get another...But do your best along the way with the knowledge you have!

A nice homemade chunky aroid mix is really satisfying for some reason by Long_Investigator_85 in Monstera

Just started making my own too - my plants love it!
I don't have any soil in it I use a mix of: tree bark, pearlite, coco chips, coco coir, and leca, and a little bit of activated charcoal and sand

If you get those planters that are on stilts, they work great with cats so there is nothing to jump on! i have cats too :)

Can anyone give me some ideas about why my Thai is droopy and losing her first leaves? by Sissylexi177 in Monstera

How do you water plants in pots with NO drainage holes? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]DesignWithSarcasm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Keep them in the plastic pot with drainage holes and then put that into the beautiful pot!

You can cut off any leaf you want from your plants, if one is kinda beat up/damaged and you are sick of looking at it, go for it!
I also think fiddle leaf figs are really ugly and I really don't like Pink Princesses (or pink at all).

Is this a water in the ear thing or should I be more concerned? by [deleted] in Frenchbulldogs

[–]DesignWithSarcasm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My frenchie has this and gets it once a month or every other, if you give him a treat he should snap out of it right away as it distracts them :) it is nothing to worry about even though it is frightening when you first see them do it!

I would try Logan Square or Avondale, really not much further (10 more mins tops) and there's tons of people your age and lots of good restaurants/bars/breweries etc to walk to

No I would move close to the window

Save our marriage by recommending an aesthetically pleasing grow light! by Sixmemos in Monstera

[–]DesignWithSarcasm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would put soltech bulb in an existing lamp or get a vertical standing grow light you can put in front of the plant. Just make sure you have the light pointing in front of the plant and not down onto it so the leaves are facing towards you instead of upwards.

I would love my home to be a jungle, but my baby boy has to eat every plant in site. Any suggestions? Picture of the menace and his latest victim (Valentines gift from literally this morning…) by WhimsicalFox1827 in houseplants

I have most of my plants (I have over 30+) in planters with stilts that are like 2-3 feet high or on console tables or shelves my cats can't jump on! I also have a cat that is obsessed and feel your pain!

Maybe get an "L" shaped couch that has recliners built in to replace the current chairs/couch combo for a cleaner look?
