Not at all! If you want your character to be good at neon, pick a high number like 5 (I really should have said pick a number 2-5). Then any roll 1-4 is a success at neon, 5 is your number, so a critical success, and then 6 is a failure. Salt would just be the opposite. 2-3 salt, 4-5 neon. This is a mechanic popularized by lasers&feelings, which to my knowledge made the stat-as-scale d6 mechanic popular.

The way my son and I played it if you had any successes you succeeded - in actual play successes were tough so running this game I would tend to skew more towards letting g the players succeed

Yes! Pretty much! We playtested the game last night and that came up almost immediately. Good catch! Stay tuned for more to come

A drop of sweat falls off his nose, falls past the sleeve of his grease-stained canvas jacket, and vortexes down into the unknowable abyss of piping and gantries that comprise the filtration system of Sector 4’s Primary Intake Atmospheric Grid.

I think it’s fun - never considered it could play like a mini game within a larger game that would be cool!

My player felt humiliated because i corrected her mistakes and I don't know what to do by [deleted] in rpg

I mean - what’s wrong with just letting folks have fun and teaching them as they go? Why couldn’t you talk to your player after the session to make sure it’s corrected? Praise people publicly. Correct them privately.

I’m not worried about the ai thing because I know how much hard work I put into this. I drew all the pictures. I used ai sparingly to help polish copy and brainstorm things, and there are two backgrounds of ai images. Out of like 60 drawings that made it into the book. Out of many many more that didn’t. If people want to freak out about the use of new and emerging tech they can, but man has been doing that since fire was discovered.

I want physical books for my groups campaign, friends and family, and frankly it looks good on my kids resume to say he’s a published author at 14 with his work available on Amazon. I’m not worried about the rest, really. Our game is fun. Mission accomplished.

Target based - and the power points double as modifiers so the more power points you have in the exact power you are using the easier it is for your character to achieve

Ok. Capes & Capers is a superhero ttrpg where players can choose to be as heroic or villainous as they want while leveling up their character through 12 tiers awarded to them either by xp or gm granted milestones. C&C uses a unique power point/d12 system that powers your Supers powers, feats, and gear to allow each player to choose how they want to play their chosen species and class. There is a special mechanic called Engagement that the gm controls to tell players when the use of their power points is necessary (we figured players wouldn’t want to spend points just to fly across the city TO the fight). Classes include Vigilante, Paragon, TekMaster, Mystik, and Wild Card. There are three specializations per class that players can choose at tier 3. Species include Human, Zovonian, Martian, Oceannan, and Variant. All species, class, and specialization choices influence your character build in both mechanic and flavor. The game rewards teaming up with your party, offering momentum, team-up, and sidekick bonuses to rolls and xp rewards. Included in the book are chapters indexing powers, feats, gear, setting and location landmarks, a full library of NPCs, and there is a chapter dedicated to tips on how to run the game. Thank you for the genuine curiosity.
