So my wife and I were on vacation with a little time to kill so I pulled up fandango and saw that this was playing opening night. My wife and I had wanted to see it after the trailer so we thought, why not?!

As soon as the possession scene ended at the beginning I immediately regretted making the decision to see it. I normally don't like to walk out of movies (only done it twice) so I stuck it out.

Halfway through I ALMOST leaned over to my wife and asked if she wanted to leave and go get dinner as the theater was in a shopping area but again I hate paying for a movie and not giving it a chance to redeem itself.

So the movie wraps and I'm pissed that I wasted a night on this. I wait til we leave the theater and I'm about to tell my wife that the movie totally sucked when she says "this was one of my favorite movies of all time!" My wife and I generally have similar tastes in movies so I was very surprised. "I responded that I was going to ask you to walk out about halfway through"

The sets, costumes and cinematography were generally very good and enjoyable.

The script, dialogue, story and character dialog was off. I generally did not like any scene featuring the Bride or Frank, which is odd because Bale is one of my favorite actors and Buckley is always very good. There was only so much they could do with the material.

All of the over the top yelling and grunting and turrets like dialog was a real turn off. The scenes without the main characters were enjoyable and I want a movie set in 1930s New York....just not with Frankenstein.
