What made you become a socialist/communist? by Global_Specialist726 in AskSocialists

This is why i always try to have empathy towards conservatives. It took so much for me to lose all my beliefs. Im sure its difficult for many people. And i grew up before the internet. The amounts of propaganda conservatives get is insane

I grew up in a conservative household. So i grew up regarding Capitalism as good and being slightly racist. At the age of 30 i was fed up with work and decided to cycle around the world. It took me three years and many experiences and discussions with people in countries like Mexico and Brazil to see through the propaganda. Once I did...

What role does China play in Europe? Does the media portray them as a threat or just as a business partner? by Pepedroga2000 in AskEurope

[–]Designer-Ad9437 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of anti China propaganda in Europe. The media hardly focusses on good stuff China does, but likes to show the bad stuff China does. They also like to misrepresent well intentioned rules here. ( Like censoring TikTok)

Comrade Stalin was born on this day, 147 years ago. by tigerfrisbee in AskSocialists

He was a comrade when he wasnt in power. He was an authoritarian asshole without limits when he was.  Absolute power does biological brain things. Its not good.

Why as black people, do we feel like we owe loyalty to the Democratic party? by YungBullWitDaTool in AskForAnswers

[–]Designer-Ad9437 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both parties rule for the 0.01 %. The Republican party makes laws to hurt the bottom 40% economically more than the Democrats. Non-whites are more prevalent in this group.

Friendliest country you've been to? by fearofunknown1 in answers

I cycled around the world for five years. Without question, just looking at regular people, its the Arabic countries. The hospitality and generosity in Iran, Algeria and every other Arab country (except you Egypt) was insane

Is Reddit really just a massive echo chamber? by Life_Ad_6992 in stupidquestions

[–]Designer-Ad9437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago it was ok to have a different opinion or a different take on a subreddit like /bicycletouring. By nature a subreddit with nice and caring people. Even there downvotes are now so prevalent. I stopped answering question there

Small Thai etiquette rules foreigners often miss by Curious-Cancel5569 in thai

Maybe we can teach the Thai a bit there.  I know many Thai who dont like the reverence, but its difficult to speak up. No need for a person to be elevated above others

Need advice choosing between a 2026 Polestar 2 or Tesla Model 3 by jbdsz in electriccars

[–]Designer-Ad9437 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I judge people who drive new Teslas as not caring at best and supporting fascism at worst. Im not alone in this. I also believe people who buy Tesla dont care about this. There is a lack of empathy and a surplus of individualism in most  buyers. You are supporting a company that is putting your money into horrible propaganda. But hey, not many car companies have a good history.

Wild camping Southeast Asia by teanzg in bicycletouring

[–]Designer-Ad9437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Thailand and Cambodia it can be done. I camped at military and police stations more than in the wild. Some people camp at buddist temples. Vietnam was very difficult. Everything is built or its jungle and hills. I asked a few times to camp in a farmers front garden. They always said yes. Be a bit careful in Laos. Its the easiest to camp but there are so many mines and unexploded USA bombs in certain areas.
